so, this pregnancy has been pretty easy on me (with the exception of bad morning sickness in the first trimester) but i think it's finally starting to catch up on me...

my baby has been turned head down for quite a while now, but for the past few days, i've been in a *lot* of pain when i walk, get up from a sitting position, or roll over in bed. it's like i can feel baby's head and my pelvic bone rubbing together when i move. baby also hasn't been as active since this started happening...is this just a sign that the baby is dropping down?

also i am having a homebirth and haven't had any ultrasounds, and lately i've been feeling simultaneous kicks on both sides of my belly

starting in on the paranoia,
cathy

I too will be a first time mum and I am also getting the same pains.

Well for me the pains haven't stopped me from moving around, just slowed me down for the most part.

From what I've read on the internet and speaking to others, it is normal as long as the pain isn't severe.

I've put it down to ligament pain and my body preparing for the birth.

I'm sure the other ladies here will be able to offer more advice.

It's fairly normal in first time moms for the baby to engage, that is, move down into the pelvis, pretty early in the final trimester. That's one big source of the lovely pregnancy-waddle.

hey,
I'm a first timer too, I've been having some intermittent, and intense public pain, that seems to be partially because of baby's head, AND constipation. sheesh, really super painful, hard to get up and walk and have to breathe through it sometimes. now I appear to be on the other side w/loose bowels/diarrhea. sorry if TMI.

don't have the waddle yet, but belly *does* seem lower today!
good luck.

I had the same concern when I saw my MW last. My baby loves to burrow in the far left corner, then I feel simultaneous pushing on the opposite side-making me think the baby was transverse. But she said my baby's head is firmly engaged in the pelvis, so I don't know how these little buggers manage to do these acrobatic feats. Also, she mentioned that my belly would look weird if the baby were laying sideways. You seem to really feel the head down there, too, so there's probably no need to be worried

thanks all. we went to see the midwife today and she said it's pretty common to feel this discomfort once the baby starts to engage. i'm getting used to the pain, it just hurts extremely bad when i have to get up to go to the bathroom since my bladder is full..and i had to wake up 6 times to peee last night.she also said all my little grunts were normal late pregnancy sounds

we also told her about our 'twins freakout' and she said my uterus would be way higher if i had 2 little ones in there. my brother was saying it was important to get an ultrasound to check brain activity, check for down syndrome (since we denied the afp test) and stuff like that. still not sure what to do about that...

so the next prenatal is the homevisit! i keep having labor dreams too...
