I'm going to try flannel/pul aio's with a quick dry soaker. Any tips?

Is there a right way to cut the pul?

When I sew, should the pul be on the top or bottom?

I don't need to prewash it, right? Just wash and dry the diaper when I am finished?

Should I sew the touchtape just to the pul with a little piece of backing? Should I sew the external soaker onto just the flannel, or all of it?

Cut the PUL layer bigger than the flannel through the legs, to help the PUL roll in a bit and help prevent leaks. There is a tutorial here somewhere for it. Also, use plain, solid PUL on the outside for best results.

Is there a right way to cut the pul?
I like to cut one layer at a time, with the stretch going from side to side. I use shears. Lots of people like rotary cutters. If I plan to T&T, I like to cut everything out with 1/4 inch seam allowance. To serge, I would rather trace the seam line, rough cut and serge off the extra.

When I sew, should the pul be on the top or bottom?
Most sewing machines seem to handle PUL better on the bottom. I sew it on top with a teflon foot, regular feet stick to the PUL. A walking foot is another option.

I would prewash the flannel, I prewash pretty much all fabrics except PUL.

I don't sew with touch tape, but I think the loop is sewn just to the PUL layer, a backing sounds like a good idea. The hook is usually sewn through all the tab layers.

Should I sew the external soaker onto just the flannel, or all of it? I would not sew it through the PUL, and I would use two body layers of flannel, and sew the soaker to both layers.

I can't decide if I should make the AIO's T&T or with FOE? What would you all do? I'm so intimidated by this PUL I bought months ago, I can't even cut it out!

Just my experience, but I hate FOE. I have several covers I bought that were done with FOE and they wick something nasty. I T&T all my dipes

I like t&t, but it comes down to a matter of personal preference. When sewing your PUL (unless you use FOE, then it doesn't matter), be sure to put your PUL shiny side down, meaning the shiny side is touching the feed dogs. If you have it touching the presser foot, it won't feed well.

What does T&T stand for? (I found on another discussion what FOE was, but not

T&T stands for turned and topstitched, though sometimes it means just turned.

It is the style of diaper where the layers are sewn together and the whole diaper is turned inside out, hiding the seam allowances inside. The other main style is serged, where you see the serging/seam allowance on the outside.
