My dd got her first pair around 8 months (hers come in pairs), but my girlfriends dd didn't get a single tooth until 18 months. She said she had these hard little gums and she'd just mash everything with 'em.
And they say that the more time the take to come in, the better jaw development. At least, that's what a child development teacher told me today.
Oh, and the friends dd is 16 now and has beautiful teeth (never had braces).
