Is omega 3 fish oil capsules and vitamin B complex okay to take while breastfeeding? Can't ask any doctors here.....they aren't very competent with with any sort of natural remedies. Drug pushers for sure. TIA.

i am taking omega 3 fish oil capsules. doc recommended it, so as far as i know, it is okay. B vits are in my prenatals, so i guess it is okay too.
YES and YES!!! Actually, you can even put a drop of fish oil on your nipple.

Be sure you are using a good fish oil, not something at Walmart or GNC.
Top three brands, in order, in my professional opinion:
1. Innate Choice
2. Nordic Naturals
3. Carlson
Unfortunately I can't afford the REALLY good ones....but the ones I bought are Webber Naturals Wild Salmon and Fish Oils 1000 mg. The bottle says that each softgel capsule contains: wild salmon and fish oil (anchovies, mackerel, sardines) 1000 mg. EPA 180 mg. DHA 120 mg. They were costly...but not terribly expensive...just couldn't afford anymore expensive than I bought. Do they sound okay? I've been taking them since yesterday. The bottle says 3 a day...but I take one with breakfast with my B complex vitamin and one in the evening with dinner.
I know the good ones are expensive, sorry. The only problem is that some of the other ones are basically throwing your money away. I will try to research the Webber to check purity. Give me a few days to get back to you about it.

Just an example of the difference: I have a patient who had bad trigeminal neuralgia (really bad nerve pain in the face), among other issues. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to help with chiropractic including my cranial work, craniosacral therapy wasn't working, and she had to be on 6 tablets of Tegretol per day! And that wouldn't control the pain, it would just minimize it a little. Just water running down her face in the shower would still cause her severe stinging pain. I finally got her on Innate Choice (she was taking some other mid-price brand), and within two days the pain was gone, completely. Not only are we thrilled that she doesn't have the pain anymore, she is also weaning herself off the Tegretol so she will no longer experience the severe depression and forgetfulness she had as side effects.

I also have a patient with cystic fibrosis who has had improvement of life with Innate Choice.

About your dosage, though, I guess some is better than none, but 3 per day is for ONE person. You're taking it for two.

Well, I'm not crazy about the salmon because of the toxicity. And I don't see anything on the Webber website that says they are a licensed pharmaceutical grade facility. Therefore I'm really concerned about the purity. Comparing the EPA and DHA, Innate Choice contains 740-825 mg EPA per serving and 460-500 mg DHA, using coldwater anchovies and sardines (which bioaccumulate the least amount of toxins) only. So if you compare prices based on what you are getting (basically your brand x 5), the best stuff is actually cheaper for what you are getting.

Here are the websites:
Innate Choice (they do have it in capsules now)
Nordic Naturals
Carlson

One of the reasons I like Innate Choice better than the other two (besides it being less expensive) is that it doesn't use cod liver oil. To me, I'd rather not have oil coming from the main detoxifying organ of a fish.
