This morning, I took off DS's wool soaker (it's a Disana), and it smelled disgusting, like that yucky "fishy" smell. I am 100% certain that it is not the diaper; I just stripped my dipes last week, and they're all doing just great on smell issues. But, there is something going on with this soaker, I just don't know what (it's been giving me lots of stink issues, and this is the worst yet!).

I used to wash with WOW, but I switched to Eucalan a few weeks ago. My new routine, which has apparently proved only to be so-so, is as follows: 1) Swish soaker around in Euclan and water for a minute, then soak for 15-20 minutes; 2) Wash with nagchampa bar soap; 3) Swish around again in fresh Eucalan and water mixture, this time with Lansinoh added in, then soak for 15-20 minutes; 4) Roll in a towel to get out excess moisture, and lay flat to dry.

This just hit me- around the same time that the stinkiness started to become a problem with this soaker (a few months ago), it also developed some random, major felting in the crotch area. The soaker is a natural beige color, but this large patch is a dark yellow, which turns a disgusting brown color when it's wet. I think that this is where most of the smell is coming from...

So, any thoughts? Suggestions? I'm really upset about this, because it was my favorite soaker. It's just groooooss right now!

ETA: We haven't used diaper ointment in months, and never Desitin (only Burt's Bees), so we know that's not the culprit!
