FitDay vs. MyFoodDiary?

1011 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  pumpkinseed
I am looking for a way to track my food that is more meaningful and informative that just a notebook. I have been recommended to these two programs and I'm wondering if any of you have used them and if you have any opinions to share. The FitDay.com one is free on their site but they sell a version for your computer which makes me skeptical of "free" - are they going to sell my name to a billion people? are they going to pepper me with constant ads? My friend using MyFoodDiary.com loves it but it costs $9/mo and $$ is tight so I want to be sure its worthwhile if I do it.

Opinions greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I tried the free Fit Day one and was disappointed. It didn't always allow for the measurements that I wanted like if I wanted to say 2 Tbs instead of 1/4 cup. And I spent a lot of time entering information from the back of products... like if I ate a store-brand bran flakes instead of a brand that they listed I would enter my info not knowing if it was the same. Then their program would list 1 g fat instead of trace so like plain black coffee was listed as 1 fat g... this made me doubt the reliability of it. I'm also a pen and paper person so I didn't find running to the computer to be motivating. But some of the other people on another thread have spoke positively about it so it may that it just wasn't a good match for me. Best of luck.
Hi!
I have no input about those two programs, but other women on our running thread have been talking about sparkpeople.com-its free-a lot of them seem to really like it. It might be worth checking out!
Good Luck!
