OK, here's the challenge. I'm not overweight but I am sooo not toned right now. I'm squishy all over. I like my body, I just want it to be a little less "soft" everywhere! I need to find a workout, BUT with these conditions:

1.) I can't afford to buy anything right now. Not DVD's, not running shoes, not weights. (I do have a seven pound set of dumbells that I used to use all the time; I gotta dust them off.)

2.) I have no privacy. I can't exercise in front of my DH (total mental block) so the only time I can do it is when he's out of the house 4 days a morning. That's fine, but that means I have two toddlers jumping all over me. Literally. DS literally JUMPS on me if I'm on the floor at all, and if I try to do anything standing he'll grab onto my leg for dear life and laugh his head off. So yoga's out.

3.) I'd walk, and I *do* walk, but at the rate of going with a two year old and a one year old, it's neither very fast or far that we can go. DD is in a back carrier and DS insists on walking, so basically we go around the block and that alone takes an hour or two with all the things we have to examine.

4.) Finally, is there some way I can be held accountable? I'd love to do a before and after type of photo diary, but I do NOT want to put it on my regular blog. I think it would motivate me to get positive feedback. Is there some place to do it without totally embarrassing myself?

www.stumptuous.com

then Google "body weight exercises" and "lower body fat percentage"

Also, with a one year old some of the looseness is just because there hasn't been enough time for things to tighten up.

Finally, you are not the woman you were before you had kids, your body is not the body it was then, and aside from your own comfort and fitness anyone saying that's a bad thing needs to suck it up.

can your DH watch the kids while you go into another room with a closed door?

i do yoga for 30 minutes each morning (yogatoday.com has free downloads of classes) and my husband watches/holds hawk during this time. it works out best this way, because i get my own time/space and i get to exercise.

otherwise, i would have the kid do yoga with you. there are kid yoga videos, and the poses are the same for kids and adults. something you can do together.

Hmm - I like the socialnetworking sites and I do also have Netflix so I never thought about doing videos from there! Cool! Unfortunately DH is NOT on board with "babysitting"
our kids, ever... I do belong to the Y and we go there every morning, we get two free hours of childcare there but DD is still iffy about it, and I don't want to get changed into my workout clothes only to have them get me because she's inconsolable. Maybe I can do that a bit later on. I love to swim, and they have a pool, etc. etc. A few months down the line... Until then I guess I can just suck it up and try to do some sort of exercise with them crawling on me. DS has the attention span of a mouse so I'm not sure he'd do yoga with me yet but we'll see.

And unfortunately we are waaaaay far from the beach, we're in the Colorado mountains, but I miss it so much! (We moved from the coast.) Running barefoot in the sand sounds heavenly!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm sorry. I hope he gets better. If it were a woman with that attitude, I'd assume something was seriously wrong so I hate to dismiss it as "oh that's tough for you."
