Fitted diapers don't have a waterproof layer in them, so yes, they are usually worn with a cover. There are some mamas here that use fitted diapers without covers, but they are very good about changing their babies after every pee - before the diaper has a chance to leak. We change every 1 1/2 to 2 hours, not at every pee, so we like waterproofness!
AngelWraps AIOs look the same as AngelWraps fitteds, but they do have a waterproof layer in them, and can be worn on their own. We have 14 or 15 Angelwraps AIOs and love them!
I was just thinking the same thing while I was browsing the Angel Wraps site! They have a HUGE list of fitteds on their "seconds" page, and they are so adorable! If I bought some AW's fitteds, I wouldn't dare cover their cute little patterns. If the Angel Wraps fairies are listening, I think they should make more diaps for boys- seems like most of their fabric patterns are for girls...
AND... I asked Amy if she would use my fabric for my dipes if I wanted, i.e. if I bought a little fabric and sent it to her to make my dipes from and she said yes! She said it wouldn't change the price much as the shell fabric is the cheapest part of it all, but you could go to a fabric store and buy some cool boyish fabrics and have her make your dipes from that!
When we are at home or someplace I can watch I let her go without a cover- becasue I feel the same way- too cute to cover up- but if I am out- we need a cover. But you wouldnt believe how manytimes I have taken her down to her dipe to show it off!
