My daughter isn't much of a cryer - she mostly makes whiny noises. She's five months now and I'm starting to think she may be teething.

She has been biting anything she can get her hands on. Especially my fingers and she bites down fairly hard. The past few days and especially today she was so whiny. Not crying so much but making 'ahh' noises. Like acting upset but then sometimes smiling and laughing. So like she was uncomfortable but wasn't completely upset to the point of not being able to laugh. She doesn't have a fever or anything and her tummy has been fine as well as her stools and she nursed normally. So I'm thinking it has to be teething. Though I personally don't feel any swollen bumps or see anything out of the ordinary. Is that a must in teething? Or can they appear without any of that? She's been in the mood to be held and mostly by me so I kept her in the sling part of the day.

What do you think?

Olivia is going through the same thing! She is also 5 months and she has a duck, Waddles, and his hands and feet are teethers and she is constantly chomping down on it. Just yesterday I wore a zip up vest over a shirt and she wanted to be held to stick the zipper in her mouth and naw on it. I don't see any bumps but it has to be teething.

My second was an early teether (started noticing signs as you describe around 4 mo), and is also very sensitive to teething, meaning, he feels the teeth WAAAYYY before they actually appear.

Humphries and Hylands are 2 WONDERFUL homeopathic teething remedies that simply ease their discomfort. Both my boys LOVED them, and once they got to the age where they could recognize what they did for them, they'd get the bottle themselves and ask mamma or pappa for some!!! The remedies are not harmful at all, and they can't over dose on them. They are VERY safe and VERY effective!!

Bea got two teeth just days after turning four months...now she has seven at eight months. she never had any change in poo, rashes or fever but certainly had some crabby, bitey times right before each one popped (except the last two which appeared without me noticing at all...)
Cold teethers seem to make her frustrated, but a wet washcloth was always enjoyed. Also the Boiron teething drops have been great.
good luck mama!
