They had fleece pants at Target for $7.99 (I think). Anyone trying them as daytime soakers? Kinda a wool-pant alternative. They're pretty thin, so I don't think they would make it through the night, but they might work well for daytime. Anyone already try them?

www.sugarbums.com has fleece pants listed under "diaper covers". I would think these would work just as well as a fleece cover.

I bought an oldnavy pair secondhand from a consignment store. One day I was out with ds and he had them on, dipe was damp and pants were not. Suddenly
I thought hey I can use these as a cover. So that's what we've been doing during the day and they work great. I'm going to get my mom to make some more.

I cant see how this would work. Eliza has a couple of fleece all in one sleep suits and a couple of times we have had a leak overnight. I thought the same thing - great! the bed's not soaked.

But her singlet was wet, as would be any other clothes they had on that were tucked in. And I dont know about you but I hate her having a bare stomach in the cold weather so I always use singlets that snap at the crotch, so she would always need a cover over her nappy or an all in one on anyway.

I cant imagine just putting fleece pants on her, leaving everything untucked so her tummy was bare, and just changing the nappy underneath all day. That actually sounds pretty yuck to me.

I second this suggestion, Heidi uses windpro fleece which is much, much more waterproff than cheapo walmart fleece or even regular malden mills fleece.

I am using fleece (cheep stuff from joanns) as my prototypes for what will eventually be ds's wool pants (rather screw up fleece than wool lol) and they work well imo. I wouldn't use a microfleece, but a thicker fleece should work w/o extra in the wet zone as long as you are a dilligent changer. Otherwise I'd still opt for a cover.

Yesterday morning, Camden had on a fleece blanket sleeper, it was pretty thin fleece. Anyway, when I changed him, I just snappied on a prefold and let the cover off. Then left his blanket sleeper on. Even after a nap, he was dry. When I put him on my hip it felt cool, like maybe sweaty, but not damp. So, I will probably do this fairly often around the house.

As one poster said, the only problem with the pants as cover thing is that if baby is wearing a onesie, you have to use a cover so the onesie won't get wet. But even still, you don't have to deal with spreading wet spots on the bum if the cover fails!

That's what I was thinking too, around here it's so hard to find little shirts that don't snap at the crotch. But I have seen a few organic cotton ones online, (I tend to like the OC anyway) and it might be worth the extra $ in the OC shirts to be able to skip a layer, kwim? :LOL I'll have to try them for this purpose and see how they do.

Old Navy makes little Ts without crotch snaps starting at size 6 months. I've also bought lap-shoulder Ts from JCPenney, and two-piece jammies from Target and ToysRUs (so you'd just have to wear the top with the fleece pants to sleep if you wanted to eliminate a diaper cover).

I don't really like snap-crotch clothes cause it seems uncomfortable to me.
