would a fleece pocket (microfleece or flannel interior) really work without a cover? Has anyone tried these? They'd be pretty bulky, right?

We LOVE all fleece pocket diapers, they're the only pocket diapers we use now, the majority are http://www.apronstringsbabythings.com/ They work great and leak less than our PUL pockets did actually. I like them better than PUL pockets because I think they breathe better. For us, they don't really seem bulky.

Yes, they do work, and they work VERY WELL at that! Apron Strings is a great brand, too, I've used many, many of them. Windpro pockets are the only pocket we were ever able to actually use at nighttime.

I have to say . . . I just bought a fleece pocket diaper from Ebay and I love it more than my other pocket diapers. It works just as well and is so soft and cushy! True, they are a little bulkier but nothing out of control.

I make my own fleece pockets out of cheap fleece, and they work great! I have put away my PUL pockets (unless I am out and about) and use fleece around home exclusively. They are very breathable and don't leak unless my insert is completely soaked.
