I'm a fluffy momma, around 185ish prepregnant. I lost about 10 pounds this pg, as I do when pg because I'm so nauseous. I don't have any baby belly yet at 14 weeks, but my "fluff" seems pushed up and out. Ya know? And I seem to have two bellies, the top "fluff" and the bottom "fluff". Anyone else?

I remember from my pg with DS that I always had separate bellies with a wedge-like belt line in the middle. I don't get a cute pregnant belly. Why oh why so fluffy?!?!? (Rhetorical question there
)

I know exactly what you are talking about! During my last pregnancy, I was really looking forward to that nice, round belly... and instead got the two bellies: one above my belly button, and one below. I was 16 pounds heavier pre-pg this time than I was last time, and it's even worse this time around! My top belly popped right at 6 weeks. It was pathetic!

I always try to fill in that gap by bunching my shirt or something right at that spot.

You mean that "B" belly? I saw that somewhere & picked it up.

I had that my first pregnancy. I was overweight, around the same weight as you are, & it never got any better. I never got a round pregnancy belly. Kinda made me sad. I always had a slight line, even when I was full term, of the top & bottom bellies. I found that maternity pants helped, I prefer the full panel pants, because I think they are super comfortable, & that helps the slight gap alot. I lost around 10lbs the first 20 weeks of my pregnant, gained 20 by the time it was said & done, but I never LOOKED very pregnant. I was in my 3rd trimester at a family function of DH's & alot of extended family were whispering, asking others if I was pregnant still or ever was.

This time around I look more pregnant, but I still have a slight divide between bellies. Not as much, but still some. People still don't realize I'm pregnant. I went to the dentist last week, last time I was there I'd just found out I was pregnant so it was in the chart already. When I got there I saw it in bright red that I was pregnant, but the lady said, "You're overdue for x-rays...can we do those today?" I think that was her nice way of asking if I was pregnant. Then she freaked out when I told her I was in fact pregnant, over 7 months pregnant. The dentist & other people were also amazed that I was that far along. I really just don't "pop" out there, I hide babies well I guess. lol Of course I've not gained a single thing during this pregnancy somehow, I've actually lost close to 20lbs, which brings me pretty close to my pre-pregnancy rate with my first baby. But still, I think I have a chance of getting rid of the divide this time around, because it's pretty close to being gone when I'm standing & I'm only 34 weeks. But, of course, if I sit down it comes back.

I've been where you're at. I was exactly the same weight you mentioned. I was like 6 months pregnant w/DD and co-workers and people at church still didn't know I was expecting. sigh.... Lack of a visible preggo belly was compounded by the fact that I only gained a total of 7lbs the whole time. And, that's exactly what DD weighed.

Oh, it's not just me then! Yay!

I was 180-ish prepregnant, though people never believe me. I kept hovering around that weight the first few months because I didn't feel like eating, and everyone freaked out.

I'm now about 25 weeks along. It's taken forever for my belly to even start to "pop," and I still don't even look pregnant. It's discouraging.

This may sound silly, BUT are you ladies wearing maternity tops? I am close to the same wt (170's and I'm 5'4") and have only gained 1.5 lbs so far this pregnancy (I'm 24.5 wks), due to hyperemesis and just not wanting to eat. I notice that when I wear maternity tops I DO look pregnant, b/c of the way the shirt hangs off of my belly. If I try to get by wearing my non-maternity tops (mostly at home now), sometimes it's harder to tell. Now I am in maternity tops, b/c my regular tops can't cover my belly, so it's not attractive and gets drafty, lol. I kind of have a little bit of the, "B" belly, BUT I tend to carry all out in front, so to those who know me, I do look pregnant. To strangers, I might just look fat or suspiciously pregnant.

This is like me. I was around 190 to start out with and 5'3''. I looked pg by 5 mths and now at 39 wks (just realized Im 39 wks today!
I diffenetly look pg- everyone keeps asking if I'm having twins. And I haven't gained any weight at all. I am actually still in the negs.(-2 or 3 lbs). I like mat. pants too or lounge pants that I wear off the belly (have no butt so they don't stay up well) no mat shirts just really big ones that are now tight.

But i never really looked as much as I weighed.

It's weird I am a very similar weight and my belly just turns round, really round like a watermelon. I wonder if it how the weight is distributed around the body, mine is all over. People are actually surprised that I weigh 190 and am 5'4-WIc gave me a bunch of crap due to my weight-I don't fit into their little box of perfection and next time I go I have to meet with a nutritionist who will tell me I need to eat healthy-um duh-I already do. Ugh...sorry my vent.

I've been wearing my regular, non-maternity shirts most of the time. There was one maternity top I wore when I had no other clean clothes (oops), and it did make me look a little more pregnant. Mom said it just looked like I'd gained a little bit of weight. That shirt and the maternity pants I was wearing rounded out my "B" belly a little.

I think I'm going to have this. Basically a spare tire and now I'm growing a pooch.

Is there any maternity 'bra' or shaper that will help?

I was also 185-190 (I fluctuated) this time, prepregnant. I'm 196 now, at 20 weeks. And uh, maybe it's becuase it's my first baby, but I'm pretty huge. I started showing pretty much right away and had to wear maternity pants by 8 weeks.

First pregnancy I wore maternity tops, but this time around I'm not. I kinda think they are a waste of money. My regular tops still work & buying regular tops I can wear post baby as well. Didn't look anymore pregnant in the maternity tops than I do in regular tops. Actually, I look more pregnant in the regular tops because of the fit. The maternity tops always just look like I'm wearing something more flowing.

I haven't had any success finding cute maternity tops, so I've found regular tops that look like maternity (Target is great for this -- stretchy, flowy tops). I definitely look pregnant if I'm standing, but not so much if I'm sitting. I've been in maternity pants since around 5 weeks. I was nearly busting out of my regular pants anyway, because of my weight gain over the past year or two. It was a relief to put on stuff with stretchy waistbands!

For my first pregnancy, I tried desperately to look pregnant as soon as I could, because I couldn't wait for the cute pregnant belly instead of just looking overweight. At around 17 weeks I kind of looked pregnant if I wore maternity tops.

I had no choice but to go maternity. Regular tops that are big enough for my belly are huge in my shoulders and arms. I just went with basic tees from gap.com. I also have a few tops from friends and I bought a cute t shirt from a pea in the pod.

I think this will be the pregnancy where I break 200. At 17 weeks, I currently weigh 188 at 5' 7". I'm wearing maternity pants because I definately have a belly, but no "B".... It's more like one big lump that goes from my pubic bone to under my breasts.... the bottom half of which is baby and the top half of which is the chub that used to be at my lower belly!

Unlike the other poster, I find I prefer to wear NON-maternity tops because they are the thing that make me look like I am really pregnant and not just fat-bellied. The maternity tops disguise my bump.

I'll be irritated if my doc says anything about my weight. I only gained 19 pounds with my first DD. I started this pregnancy about 5 pounds heavier than I was at the beginning of my first one, so not that much difference. Thing is, I was a regular runner until I got pregnant. I ran a half marathon last year at 180 pounds.

There's a huge difference between being a fat, unhealthy "obsese" person, and one who is fit, healthy, and who happens to be heavy. I truly believe that a person's body is capable of finding it's optimal weight on its' own.... My body just happens to like to be on the fluffy side! I've never had blood pressure or cholesterol issues and I am very physically fit.

I wish doctors would take more than just weight into account when determining someone's health and fitness level! Not sure why I turned this into a little rant about doctor's giving pregnant people a hard time about their weight! LOL

I thought I was the only one who has this! It seriously made me want to cry. At full 40 weeks, right at the very front, I *almost* didn't have a line this last time. The sides, I still totally did. I wanted a perfectly round belly so much & I never got one.

Count me in the B-belly tribe!
Never heard that term but it fits me to a T (or a B?)! I just changed my clothes from work and noticed how big each portion of my belly has gotten - interesting theory on the bottom being baby and the top being the old bottom.
I'm also 180 pre-pg, 5'6", with measurements something like, oh, 36-36-36.
I'm more like a soup can than an hourglass...

I've lost some weight already (I'm 9w2d) but my belly has gotten bigger - I've been in maternity pants for 2 weeks now (and I swear I'm wearing them forever; waistbands are so awful for a B-belly!). And zero butt here either - I've always carried all my weight in my belly.
