Hi,
I've been off the board for a while, but we're traveling later this week with DS who needs his epipen jr. I'm obviously bringing these on the plane. I have an allergy kit w/his 2 epipen jrs, ready doses of benedryl and other 1st aid items. DS will be wearing an alllergy bracelet as well.

Do I need anything special to fly w/epipens? They are out of the box...

They will need the perscription on them. Depending on how old they are you
ay be able to get them reprinted at the pharmacy. Other than that I just hand them to the TSA person.

I've never needed the prescription for flying with an epi-pen. We just put it in the ziplock bag with the other liquids we are carrying on and put it in the bin separately like they tell us to.

Whenever you have prescription drugs, you're supposed to have them in the original case with the prescription on it, I thought. And it would probably be good in the case of that, to have a prescription with you just in case you needed a refill wherever you're going. I bring my DS's glasses prescription just in case he breaks them and we need them replaced, when on vacation.
