My 6 mos. old daughter has multiple food allergies via my milk. We are seeing a great allergist who is extremely supportive of my continued breastfeeding, despite me currently being down to about 5 foods to eat. But our pediatrician is another story--she doesn't have experience with food allergies as extreme as this and she continues to push for vitamin supplementation for our baby without bothering to test DD to see if it is necessary, vaccines even though she is proven to be allergic to neomycin, the preservative in many vaccines (we found this out by using neosporin on her diaper rash one time) and she suggested we take the baby to a nutritionist--even though I am eating everything I can right now and our baby will not be eating for awhile until I test a few more things via my milk, so the reactions are less severe.

I would LOVE your pediatrician recommendations! I think my pediatrician is great for the average kid, but I need a very pro-BF ped who also has some food allergy experience. We are in Hampstead, Carroll County, but at this point I'd be willing to travel. Recommendations? Thanks

We see Dr. Sears in clarkesville and she has been very bf friendly, though I am not sure how she is about food allergies. I think she has a waiting list right now, but perhaps if you explained your situation she could make an exception.

She is very allergy aware and supportive in my experience. I think she is taking new patients come September.
