Help Moms

I have a 3 year old little boy... and I am afraid that we are haveing some probelms with the food that we are eating and causing hyperactivitiy and tantrums. I am new at eating organic. We have just started the process of switicitng over. I am still not sure what to look for in snack type food for the little guy as far as additives (dyes) to avoid and things like that. Can any of you give me some tip or point me in the right direction.. If we go for ice cream in the evenning about 2 tbls. can send him in such a hyper spin off that it hurts me to watch him... we need to get this under control... ''''''

Thanks a bunch

I think if I were seeing such a dramatic corelation between a food and the behavior, I would stop anything processed, whether organic or not.

The offerings this time of year are fabulous; offer fruit and veggies, smoothies made with plain full fat organic yogurt, maybe snyders organic pretzels for a "snacky" snack. We are pretty much eating all raw these days; the weather only recently turned pleasant again and we don't have AC, Even running the crock pot heated up the kitchen way too much.
Gradually add a very whole grain type bread (no hydros, no high fructose corn syrup) to see how he handles it. Good luck; you are wonderful for seeing the link! I am always amazed when moms shake their heads at their kids' behavior while giving them a "gogurt" for a "healthy" snack

when you say no hydros and no high frutose corn syrup.... what are the problems with these things and typically what are they found in? Thanks again... what other typs of snacks and drinks do you give your kids... I give mine water mostly... but he love OJ and apple juice so I buy Adam and Eve it says no sugar added ad I add 1/4 apple with the rest water. OJ is harder to find less sugar...? I will have to see at the whole foods... I am just trying to eliminate the sugar first.. to see if this helps with his disipline problems...

Thanks a bunch...
