I know it's normal after a big meal to be full and your body is busy working on digesting all the food, so you tend to feel quite tired. However I feel like that even when I don't eat a large amount. It's starting to get silly now.

I had a bowl of cereals yesterday (average serving size-not large) and for the rest of the day I was so...almost exhausted.

It's got to the point right now where I'm trying to avoid eating anything during the daytime until the evening meal. This way I have energy to do all the house chores, college work and general things. Then I can eat dinner in the evening and it doesn't matter if I'm really tired because it'll soon be bedtime.

It's so annoying, why am I like this? All I want to do after eating a meal is sit down or sleep...and that really tired feeling lasts for the rest of the day. It's ridiculous.:

Help??

Is it worse after certain foods? That happens to me when I have gluten - horrible exhaustion and often I fall asleep in that 'passed out' manner.

Have you had your glucose levels checked recently? Hypoglycemia is no fun.

Try increasing your protein and see what happens. I have hypoglycemia and if I eat carbs w/o protein I do what you are doing. I only eat whole grains and lots of protein w/it.

cereal would almost ALWAYS do that to me. If you are eating refined carbs (flours and sugars, etc etc) of course it will drop your blood sugar. I used to be hypoglycemic but am no longer by eating all whole grains and very healthy---anyway you may be eating healthy-just wanted to add that two bits (this past thanksgiving weekend I felt SOOO tired and sick--becuase I was eating like the family we were staying wtih)---if I have sugar I am OUT for a couple days---need long naps and have NO energy!

I know you're not pregnant, but this is how I felt when I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes. I suggest getting your sugar checked.

How long has this been going on? Is it something new or have you always been like this?

My guess is that you're eating something that doesn't agree with you: either too many refined (or total) carbs or an allergic-type rection to a specific food or foods. If you react this way to grains, it can be hard to distinguish which it is.

Does this happen after eating a hard boiled egg or a handful of nuts?
