Hey all,I was wondering if i could get some feedback.LAst week i stepped on a bee and got stung.I pulledit out witha tweezer and now a week later,My foot itches and tingles and is red and swollen.It feels raised this area and hard like mayube theres something underneat the skin.Im not sure what t odo.thanks!

Ill put some aloe,was trying clay!Kinds scary a little,lol.when i got stung other parts of my body it didint do this.maybe from having to step on it ,it gets worse?thanks again

I recently got stung on thr hand,and my then 15mo son got stung in the summer on the arm.The pharm recommended a paste of meat tenderiser.I did that and then put on some B&T sting stop a homeopathic gel.

Yes that is normal, that is what happened to me when I got stung on the foot. It got really swollen. Ice packs help. There is also an herbla product called StingSoothe that works great...sooo soothing.

Two weeks ago my son was stung by a bee on the ear. Ice, "Sting Stop"; all was well until 48 hrs later his ear turned red and swelled. Our ped said though I had done all the right things, sometimes one can get this kind of delayed reaction. People develop allergic reactions over time (and multiple bee stinging), which was why it was rare for a baby or toddler to have an allergic reaction. He recommended a baking soda paste and if it didn't begin to heal by the end of the day or the next, we should come in. But he seemed extremely reticient to want to intervene. Other reading I did made me feel like the treatment (shot) would be worse than the bee sting.

My dh got stung on the thigh this summer and it swelled up and got itchy just as you describe. It was the worst reaction either of us had ever seen and dh's been stung many times. I wondered if it was a different kind of 'bee', like a hornet or wasp or yellow jacket or whatever, I'm not up on my stinging insects. What do you think?

I would think that if your dh had a more severe reaction to his most recent sting and he has been stung many times before, perhaps the stings' toxicity is beginning to get to him. You didn't mention if there was a long duration of time from the most recent sting since the last. Per what I read and was told, allergic reactions to stings are the result of cumulative stingings. I assume over time and that there are always exceptions to the rule. If the assaliant was another type of insect, that could also merit a severe reaction as a result of a new type of venom (?) or chemical reaction (prior stings?). Bodies are so amazing and complicated.

This occurred to me too but when I read the other replies describing exactly the same reaction in people who had rarely been stung I wondered if it was a different insect. I think we should be very watchful if he gets stung again.

The funny thing is that just days before this sting I was stung on the foot. I didn't have much of a reaction at all, it didn't hurt for more than a few minutes. I mentioned to dh that this was my 3rd bee sting and he was amazed that I'd had so few. He claimed he'd been stung at least once a year for life and was all macho, it's no big deal, doesn't hurt, etc. WELL, Mr Macho was a little shaken up by this huge throbbing itching lump on his thigh just a few days later!
