My m-i-l made the BEST fig preserves from fruit she grew in her yard. She has been dead for just over a year. We are living in her riverhouse and today I went to pull out the box of Quart jars that were in the bottom of the pantry...I thought they were empty, but there are 6 quarts of her figs
Who knows how old they are, though! I know she didn't make figs the summer before she died, so, hmmm, that means they are 3 years old or older. So what do you think, trash? Or maybe they are still good? Will I be able to tell by smelling them if I open a jar?
Thanks.

If they've been stored in a dark, cool place (sound like they have in a cabinet), they'll be fine.
Enjoy!
