I've noticed quite a few quotes in peoples' siggies and thought we could do a more light-hearted thread sharing some favorite quotes and how they pertain to the vaccine discussion. They don't need to be overtly or pointedly vaccine-related; if fact, I think this exercise would be more interesting if they weren't.
I'll start with some wise words for dealing with online trolls.
I'll start with some wise words for dealing with online trolls.
When making your vaccine choices:"I learned long ago never to wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." --George Bernard Shaw
From skeptic favorite Neil de Grasse Tyson:"Never say yes to anything you can't say no to." -Mary Rubin
If you're depending on news media to inform you about vaccines, this is for you:"If you want to assert a truth, first make sure it's not just an opinion that you desperately want to be true."
And here's how media outlets frame the vaccine debate and push for coercive vaccination policies:"If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed." -Mark Twain
NVIC frequently likes to share this one:"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow for lively debate within that spectrum." -Noam Chomsky
Are there any other quote nerds out there who'd like to contribute to this thread? :grin"Collective fear stimulates the herd instinct and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd." -Bertrand Russell
