US confirmation today, baby looks GREAT and is a GIRL!!!

I was having lots of contractions during the US that we didn't get any pictures, and you could see her getting squeezed beyond belief, poor baby girl. It looked like her head was being cut off (not really) but holy moly.

So we have no baby clothes for her, but i guess we have some time to get them.

Only problem is, I'm contracting a LOT. I had 3 in the 45 minutes it took for the ultrasound, so as of 20 weeks I'm on modified bed rest and will have to take meds once a month to keep my uterus calm. I'm really ok with it though, but that means NO shopping for me. Also, we have an Easy Walker Stroller and the front wheel broke off today so now we don't even a stroller. Boo

Well BH are real contractions, they just don't do anything to your cervix. Nope they were BH, but I had 3 in 45 minutes and they really don't want me having that many. We'll see what happens I guess.

ask your doc about hydroxyprogesterone (p17) shots to prevent preterm birth or at least reduce the risk. i just got my first weekly shot yesterday at 16 weeks. they are known to relax the uterus to calm contractions.

well i've never actually had one before 37 weeks so i don't know if that's what they want me to use or not, but i have a friend on it. that might be what he's referencing though, does it come in different doses? he did specifically say "low dose" meds and this part is unfamiliar to me.

i hope the shots keep your little one in there until close to 40 weeks mama!!!!

Congrats Tenk! I am glad she's doing well!
Get lots of books and maybe DVDs to pass the time LOL. I am sure the meds and bed rest will work . Out of curiosity, did you know you were having contractions prior to going into the u/s? I have my u/s this afternoon and never even thought of that possibility!

Take care!!!

This is my 5th and the BH's seem to come earlier each pregnancy. This time I got a little scared recently. I am definetly having more than four in an hour and they sometimes hurt and last longer than 15-30 seconds. My MW recamended seeing the chiropractor. I had an adjustment and she said my sacrum was way out of place and that can cause pre-term labor and lots of contractions. The adjustment helped immedietly. But its back out of place and the contractions are on the go again.

Try the chiro if you can, preferably someone who is ICPA certified. You can go to www.ICPA4kids.com to find one.
Drink lots of water and rest when you can. Id try all that before taking any of the available meds they use to stop contractions. Those meds can cause lots of problems at the end when you want to go into labor naturally!

The only thing is, I don't get to go into labor naturally. Because of my uterine rupture with B, I have to have an amnio at 36 weeks and then a C/S with in days of the amnio. I'm ok with this because I know how bad things were when B was born, and were not prepared to go down that road again. Thanks for letting me know mama, it's nice to have others with similar experiences!!!

i don't think it comes in different doses. but i think technically it is a 'low dose' shot.

It's probably the same thing then, do you know if it's made to quiet your uterus? I mean does it stop or help prevent early labor? They aren't concerned with early labor but that the ones I'm having are not "helping" my uterus stay in tact. Thanks for you wisdom mama!!!

Yay!! Congrats, Tenk! I'm hoping for a girl too. We find out a week from Monday. You've predicted a girl for me, we'll see if you're right
