I was just hit by that overwhelming desire to hold my precious baby Boy. I wish I could remember when I first had that strong longing with DS. I don't think it was quite this early, but then again...I am so aware that every day is an unexpected blessing of time with this pregnancy.

Anyone else feeling that intensely maternal urge that wants to meet and hold your baby NOW?

Me! Last week some really close friends of mine and DH's had their first baby. We won't be able to travel to see them for a few weeks, but we got to skype with them once they were home from the hospital, and the second I saw my friend with her little bitty tiny new baby, I instantly felt the need to hold my own!!!

I don't think I ever really had this feeling with DD only because I had no idea what to expect; I was excited, but that real-maternal urge didn't come until she was born. This time around, I can imagine the snuggles, the rooting noises of a newborn, the smell of their soft unwashed hair, etc... I can't wait!!!

Within the last few days I have started to feel exactly this way. Before I was comfortable just focusing on my toddler. I don't remember a discrete beginning to that longing during my first pregnancy. I also met a friend's one month old little girl over the weekend and that could have something to do with it. Also this is the time for me when the pregnancy is suddenly noticeable to everyone, even people who don't know me. So, at work for instance, I am talking about it all the time.

I have really enjoyed seeing and holding my friends' newborns, but I can wait until April for this little guy. Of course I think of holding him, but I also think of the way it changes the relationship with the current little one. My current baby is 16.5 months old, still very snuggly and cuddly. The way my now 3 year old pulled away from me for many months after his birth...I am just savoring the cuddles with my sixteen month old. I know I will have more time than I can imagine with the new one....but it feels my snuggle time is winding down with my 16 month old.

I've been working on O's baby book and seeing him all small and snuggly makes me want to snuggle this one too.

I've been like this for a day or two. I actually posted in Jan ddc on two mama's 'baby is here' posts. I said on one of them I remember someone I know saying how precious babies were that they wanted to put the baby in their mouth and savor it bc it was just too darn cute! In a non cannibal way...lol!

DS just turned 2, and he isn't into cuddling anymore either. He has just about stopped giving kisses too. :*( so I'm ready to hold some new wrinkly oohy gooy baby!!!! And then in aug I get to hold another new baby! My really good friend A is due in aug with her first! So just about when my newborn isn't a newborn...I get to hold hers!!!! Sooooo excited!!!!!

Oh babies! I know what started this! I just remembered! Lol shopping yesterday my mom said she can't wait to see Ryan. She was going to buy an outfit at carters that was a shirt and overalls...for $25! Eek! I wouldn't let her...lol. I told her I'd rather have more items for that price than just two items. I've been stalking the sale racks when I go to places like target and carters and such. I haven't bought anything for full price yet! Oh yeah! I found about 6 or so onsies for $2.80 at target the other day! Wooop!

Ooops....I got OT. Sowwy!

It's been 6 years since my youngest was little and squishy (though I still call her my squishy), so baby memories are sort of vague. I can't wait for my bff to have her baby (any day now!) and see what it is and hold him/her. Once that happens I know I will be counting the days (as opposed to just the weeks) until we get to meet this LO of ours.

I am super excited to hold my baby but at the same time I'm glad I still have more time to prepare. I want to have a clean house with everything I need for that newbie. :)

Lol...yesterday I was so beyond glad that I have at least a couple more weeks before getting up all through the night again and the agony of starting to nurse again. Fickle pregnancy hormones. My DS has also not been very snuggly lately, and I've been really sad over losing him as my baby, but he had surgery today, so that has made him more snuggly and kissy than usual. I've really enjoyed it...except for when he threw up apple juice and graham crackers all over me again and again...ugh.
