I was wondering for thoes of you using cloth diapers..... Are you going to bring CD or use disposable ones the hospital provides?

I am thinking that I would like to get started with the cloth, however, I'm thinking of what a pain it's going to be at the hospital.......unless of course they offer to wash them for me.

Let me know what you think, even if you are not using cloth.
Thanks

mamabird,
it is a lot to read through, but we have been talking about this in the weekly thread. It seems like most start with disposables and after a few days go to cloth. That is what I plan to do. mcs

yeah i think that since i won't have easy access to washing, that i will start with some sposies. but i'm taking some that are all cotton. (not mainstream ones with the stuff in them).

I used cloth with #3 in the hospital. It was super easy! Just to let you know....it sounds harder then it really is. I had one load of clothes to do when I got home....no biggy.

If you have any questions about using cloth in the hosipital.....feel free to pm me.

We'll be using the hospital's disposables for the first few days. Mainly because we don't have our CD's yet! :LOL I'm just waiting for my first maternity check to come in, so we can go pick them up. Talk about leaving it to the last minute, huh?

I plan on using CD's at the hospital. I don't think it will be too much extra laundry or extra work. Besides my son is still in diapers part time so I will have to do diaper laundry anyways
He REFUSES to wear paper diapers :LOL

I already have some sposies from well-meaning friends, plus I know they'll have them at the hospital, so I'll either bring my doublers or my flushies (or both) to place inside the sposies b/c of the gel issue. I'll also be picking up a package of newborn Tushies for the first few days at home.

I had my kids in Canada and both hospitals provided only cloth diapers..I don't know but it can't hurt to ask at your hospital, they may have some?

I found prefolds to be easier while his cord stump was still on because I could fold it low enough that it didn't irritate it. The fitteds and pockets tended to be too big and rubbed against it a lot.

I used the sposies from the hospital for the meconium stage and then switched over to cloth. Ryan is our last so I'll be selling off our CDs as he outgrows them and I didn't want to worry about staining.

We plan on using 'sposies in the hospital also. One reason is the mec. staining issue (although I have also heard it doesn't stain). The other reason is I figure I will be learning so many other foreign things (bfing, soothing a crying baby, dealing with my own discomfort, even just learing how to hold a baby that small) that I will tackle cds when I get home.
