how about a brutally honest (but not mean
) name thread?

Anyone up for it? Is there already a thread like this in here?

I'll go first. This baby is a boy, and his last name will be P******. Ds's name is Keagan William, and dp's name is Teague (and no, we did not plan for their names to be so similar. lol). We loved the name Keegan/Keagan from the get go.

Here are names that are on our list for this baby, but none are striking us as "the one":
Jonah
Noah (we both like it, but really common, and kinda out of place with Keagan)
Devin (I like it, but am worried about the trendiness, and the meaning)
Darius
Darien (I really like this, but it's not a "real" name, and it's really close to dorian, which is a guitar scale. Dp is a guitar teacher, and teaches the dorian scale to all his students).
Doran
Wesley (is this a nerdy name? For some reason it keeps popping back up in my head)
Jordan (but it's used quite often on girls)

Middle name options are:
Andre (my middle name is Ann)
Lyndon (my great grandma's maiden name, and my aunt's middle name, are Lynn)
Wesley
Cedar
Sage

The way I decide on a name is if it sounds good when I yell it.
It's going to be yelled out a lot to come home for dinner... so it needs to sound good when I yell it outside.

I'm also really into names that are obscure. However, this baby is going to have a "normal" name, since my dad's name hasn't been used but my mom, and dh's mom and dad, have all been honored. We're spelling it differently though. It's also very Irish. Since we've gone with names from my Chippewa background, it's dh's turn.

Out of your list, I really like Devin Sage together. Again, using my yelling rule. You can't do two -n names together...so Devin Lyndon would be out. Also a really good rule is first name two syllables, middle name one syllable, those go really well with the two syllable last name.

Oh, and Wesley reminds me of Wesley Crusher from ST:TNG.
So yeah, a little geeky...but cute geeky!

I like Noah Wesley ( Noah and Wesley both being names I really like but dh vetoed). Noah Sage and Noah Cedar sound good too. I don't think Wesley is nerdy at all. I know a little boy named Wesley and he was not what I would think of as nerdy, but very adorable

Jonah and Noah are both on my list too.

I love, love Andre too - why not for a first name?

Sage and Cedar are way too over the top earthy, but then again I live in Colorado and you meet one around every corner....

I really like Dorian/Darien Sage or Dorian/Darien Wesley!

We only have 1 boy name so far and it stinks to have no choices!

That's my vote too!

I love the name Wesley as a first name, especially the nickname of "Wes." And I think Keegan and Wesley sound perfect together (And I like the fact that it keeps popping into your head, like maybe your baby is trying to tell you something
).

Thanks for all the opinions! The fn/mn pairs are really helpful- some of them sound so much nicer than the combos I had been considering

I really like Andre, so it's a possibility as a first name. Dp isn't totally sold on it yet (but hasn't really vetoed it either).

I glad to get the opinions on Wesley too!

I really like Noah and Jonah, but I agree that noah is kind of popular right now. I also like the name Andre, for a first or middle name!
We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl. We've got the girl names narrowed down (probably) to:

June
Violet
Hana

And ideas for boys:

Henry (dh likes this alot, i'm on the fence, does it sound too nerdy?)
Leif
Paul
Luke
Laird
William (Called Will)

Oh and the last name is Swedberg. Middle names I'm not even trying to figure out yet!

I really like all of your girl names. I think Hannah (I'm assuming the same sound as Hana?) is very popular, if that matters to you at all.
I'd say my fave of the girl names is June. It's just so...nice.

On your boy names, I like Luke the best, then Paul. Actually, I like Leif with your last name. It sounds very nice.
As for Henry, it's not my style, but it seems to be *very* well liked on the baby name board here.

I find it kinda stressful that I don't even have a list of a few names that I would be REALLY happy to pick from. And I know there are 7-10 weeks left (I refuse to believe that it's possible for me to go past 40w lol), but we've already been thinking of names for 20w and we have very little to go on so far. hehehe

I like Darius, Doran, and Wesley. I think that Keagan & Wesley sound the best together out of all of them, and I like these combos:

Wesley Andre
Doran Cedar
Darius Lyndon

I love, LOVE both June and Violet. If my baby was a girl, I wanted her to be Amelia June. Violet was on my list, but it doesn't sound good with the last name. I think both of those sound great with your last name. Hannah (Hana) is pretty popular right now, so that's the only reason I don't like it.

For your boys, I like Henry- I don't think it is nerdy at all, and I think it is really making a comeback- and may very well be really popular in a couple years. I also like Luke and William (but not Will, I don't like ANY William nicknames). Leif is nice too!

I agree that Hannah is too popular right now, but Hana would actually be pronounce "Hawna" like the town of Hana on Maui ( where we went for our honeymoon!)
I think I'm really leaning towards June and then Violet.
Keep the opinions coming on the name Henry - like I said, it's growing on me, but I don't want to give my kid a name that might be made fun of.

I really like Wesley and Noah, I would go with either of those, but have good friends who have already used those names! And my favorite middle name from your list is Sage.

Oh, and I like Jonah a lot too! I think I'll add that one to my list.

I LOVE Violet. That was my first choice for a girl, but DH doesn't like it
:

And for boy names I like Luke and Leif. Luke is on our list, but I don't think DH would go for Leif.

I'll toss my tiny dilemma out there since I'm fast running out of time with dh deploying in days.

We've decided on the first name Cody..but middle name we're kind of torn on.

He likes Robert(okay tbh it's his bf's name & I kinda don't like the guy so I'm biased against it).

I kind of prefer James...but I'd be open for anything that sounds okay with Cody. Last name is Cagle so I'm trying not to go for any middle name starting with a vowel.

Dh was all about Oscar for a middle name...I just can't take him anywhere!

I like James better with the first and last name. But Oscar is cool too!

Alright, my turn.

So for a girl we've pretty much decided on Adelaide. But we can't come up with a middle name that we like with it. Our last name is Marcelynas, so it definitely has to be something short!

But for a boy, I just don't know. I have a list, but nothing I'm crazy about! The middle name will be Robert, in memory of my brother. So, here's our list, I need some opinions!
Owen
Luke
Jonah (just added this one!)
Liam
Ethan (I really like this one, but this is my mom's stepson's name-would you use it?)
Connor
Marek/Merrick

I like both Cody Robert and Cody James. I think James flows a little bit better (but flow isn't really all THAT important to me), and if you are not a fan of Robert, my vote is definitely for James.
Cody would have been on my list, except that a cousin's son is named Cody.

I like Oscar. But Cody Oscar doesn't sound very good to me. And, yeah...the initials.
lol
