Is their anyway to do it if you don't have the recomended amount of time to study, could I just double up on lessons so I could be through in time? I'm 32 wks and have only done cd 1!

I think it's very possible! I was a bad, random student who took the lessons out of order, fell asleep during most of them, and practiced sporadically, but I really doubled up in the last few weeks. My birth (just had him on the 25th!) was not exactly as hypnobabies as I had hoped, but I ended up using only a TENS machine, getting one shot of Nubain to rest when I stayed 8 cm for 7 hrs. Had to get a vacuum right at the end due to my baby having a true knot in his cord that was getting tightened with every push, but I was amazed at how well I could focus inward and let my body do its thing.<br><br>
I listened to the scripts over and over again during early labor and I think it set me up to have a better frame of mind during the rest. My doula and midwife (and husband) all said the only way they could tell I was having a contraction was that I stopped talking and would drop my head down. I was pretty happy with the experience!

Yeah if i were you i would just double up on the lessons. I was a really bad student, i skiped, missed, didnt listen to the affirmations after the first week, and didnt really practice as much as i should, and not at all in the last few weeks. I still had an awsome nearly painfree birth, the only part that hur was when she was crowning, and that only stung. I figure that any amount is better than none, so just do your best.

Yes! There is a modified "starting late" plan. I don't remember the schedule for it but if you go to the website you can probably contact them to find out what that is. Also you can listen to one CD in the morning, and then another in the evening, instead of waiting a whole day.<br><br>
Also I think it's worth sharing that I did it all wrong, never listened to all the CDs, didn't practice anything, never could tell if it was "working", and in general was a terrible Hypnobabies student - and it still helped. I feel that if I had done it right, it would have been even better - but that even doing it *wrong* is still better than nothing. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

Well if you've already done cd1, doesn't that mean you have 4 weeks of lessons/cd's left? Which gets you to 36 weeks so that's perfect.

I think i did enough of the first cd but to be honest I'm not sure I think that was in may. I should probably start over just to be sure.

Yeah, I think a sped up version is fine and then once you are finished you can rotate back through the scripts where you feel you need more reinforcement. I actually took an extra week to do my course and I think I finished at 36 weeks. It was plenty early and I birthed at 39w0d. I was starting to get sick of the scripts by then so I think you'll be fine!
