My 8 yr old dog was switched to BARF after her diagnosis of oral cancer about 2 months ago; DH and I had been considering BARF prior to the diagnosis, but thought we would do it with the "next dog", b/c of Maggie's age and our ignorance at that point. Who knew 2 weeks later we would be ordering BARF products for our old girl? So, it has been two months and while DH and I are trying our best, our old girl doesn't seem to be taking to it. We do chicken backs and meat/veggie patties. She'll eat the patties, but isn't too thrilled about them. She'll eat the backs, but really, really isn't too thrilled (she'll wait all day to eat to see if anything else is coming); recently I purchased lamb necks for her and she threw it up within minutes. She buries the backs in the yard (which is small) and with a 2 yr old out playing, I really don't find it too sanitary or appealing. She is on a regime of vitamins and supplements from our holistic vet for the cancer and eats them in wet dog food -- she loves this, will wait for this and then eat the other food. I've talked this over with the vet and we are both confused <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/headscratch.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="headscratch"> and are possibly considering giving up on the BARF and just giving her high quality wet food. What do others think? Am I missing something here?
