I've read several threads in this forum about making you own fancy coffee drinks to save $$. I'm getting a frappuccino machine for Christmas (my fave kind of coffee treat) and I'm wondering where to buy good quality syrups, etc. at the best prices.

Any ideas would be great!

DH, my favorite barista, recommended this type:

http://www.flavoredsyrups.net/

He also said check out restrnt supply stores or that type of store. We usually do not use flavored syrups, but once you find one you like and a good price, it is not only fun to make your own coffee/drinks etc, but it saves cash.

Do you need a deicated machine to make a frap? I think any blender that could hack crushing a little ice would work.

I make my own Starbucks knock off of the bottled frap with leftover coffee, sugar, milk, cocoa powder and pectin. I put it a recycled Starbucks bottle, shake it up and chill in the fridge. The pectin sounds weird, but it is what makes it taste like the orginal.

I buy the Ghiradelli Ground Chocolate (the kind in the little canister) and I swear it makes the best mochas when added to espresso and steamed milk. Safeway has it and off and on Fred Meyer carries it too. I don't buy syrups often(I started making my own caramel and that's the only flavor I really use anyway) but when I do I just get the Torani syrups at Safeway or Fred Meyer.

If you do frontier co ops, I get the Monin brand through that. It's like 6.20 (or maybe it went up slightly) for a big bottle and no artificial colors and stuff. I love the vanilla and hazelnut ones, haha. Hence the name.

Do you have a restaurant supply store around you? We have found many of the exact brands of syrups/mixes/products that our local fru fru coffee place has (in fact thats where they get them at)
