For those who take, or give to your kids, the Natural Vitality magnesium or the cal/mag, do you dissolve it in hot water? That's what the bottle says, and I am assuming that is just to get it to dissolve completely. But that seems like so much extra work, and then I have to let it cool down, etc, it is just faster to stir it around quickly and drink it down right away. There's a little residual left in the glass, but I feel like we're getting most of it. Is that fine, or is there something about drinking it in warm liquid that makes it more absorbable?

I don't know. DH and I started taking it a few weeks ago. He would just dissolve it in regular water like you do and I heat up the water like the directions say. I did notice that with the hot water it ended up transparent but in dh's glass it stayed milky in color. But I don't know if it makes any difference in absorbability.

My understanding is that the hot water activates the magnesium powder and is therefore necessary for optimal effectiveness.

A nice alternative to filling the whole cup with hot water and then waiting a long time is to just use enough hot water to activate the magnesium and then add cooler water to that once the fizzing is finished. Then you can drink it right away.

I make my whole-day supply in the mornings when I'm already heating a kettle of water for tea and breakfast. I fill a mason jar with my all-day dosage of NC and then just drink it here and there throughout the day.

I just didn't want to take the time to heat up the water, how lazy am I??
Just trying to make things as simple as possible, and we take several other supps, a few times a day, so it is time consuming. You know, look for a pan, wash a pan because they're all dirty, then heat up the water, etc, vs just dumping it in and sucking it down!

Yes, our is milky too, but I did notice today this morning, when I didn't drink it all at once and forgot about it, that when I came back to it some time later on the counter and it was transparent again, so I guess it dissolves eventually.

That's interesting, thank you! I was thinking I had read that once you dissolve it, you need to drink it right away, because it starts to degrade. Or is that just vitamin C?

The cal/mag one I bought does have some C and a few other things in it. Is there one that is just straight up cal/mag?

I am taking the cal/mag in the AM and the plain mag in the PM.

Sorry to derail, but I have another ? about Natural Calm. Mag Citrate is not an antacid is it? I wind up taking mine right after dinner before I go to bed and sometimes feel a little heartburny afterwards. Just making sure it's not making my digestion worse than it already is...

I don't know if it's an antacid. I don't know even what makes something an antacid I wonder if you just have that feeling because it's kind of fizzy?
As for putting it in food, warm vs cold drinks, I think I might call them. I'll report back if I do!
