Hi everyone.<br>
I think this is the right place to vent this?<br>
I am so sick of getting formula garbage (pamphlets, coupons, formula)in the mail. My entire pregnancy. Just today I received more at my front door. I am a week overdue(due date was June 6th) so I guess they think I need food for my kid. And just how do they track my pregnancy? Is it through the hospital I'll be going to?<br>
I don't get it.<br>
I received tons while pregnant with my daughter too. And what is so sad is that our tax dollars are paying for this. Why can't our tax dollars pay for REAL breastfeeding information delivered door to door? Instead of programs geared to trap uneducated women who otherwise know nothing about BF?<br>
I am so hormonal and now I'm flustered over this. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/soapbox.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="soapbox"><br>
Ok, I just needed to vent. I guess I should quit or I might stop any contractions I've been having so far.<br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rolleyes">

They get it from something you may have signed up for at the Dr.'s office ... They try to trick you and then you end up with all their JUNK!

Baby Registries! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shake.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shake"><br><br>
Target, WalMart, BabiesRUs, Baby Depot, etc.<br><br>
There's two big reasons these companies agree to "do" a baby registry for <i><b>your</b></i> convenience. They assume that people are going to buy stuff from their store, plus they sell your information!<br><br>
Some registries have an opt-out option ~ you usually have to SEARCH HARD for it.<br><br>
p.s. If you "return to sender" the post office will take it back, but they DO NOT send it back to the manufacturer. They donate to local non-profits. My Mom works for a local non-profit & they get formula, bottles, diapers, books ~ a wide assortment of unclaimed, unwanted items ~ from the Post office.

I got samples and coupons from 2 different companies(similac and enfimil). Only I knew I was going to, cuz I signed up for them! One of my neighbors uses formula, so I gave all the similac stuff to her and the enfimil and whatever similac she didn't want went to a local women's center. If the companies want to give the stuff away, I say take it! And then quickly give it away! I know it won't make them go under, but any way I can stick it to 'em, I do; especially if I can help someone else at the same time.

I get a ton of this stuff too - the coupons I tack to an announcement board at the supermarket (along with disposable dipe coupons) and the formula I give to my church's food pantry. Better then letting them go to waste.<br><br>

Women's shelters will take it as well. Either donate it to someone or mark it return/refused and send it back, but I fear this way it will be trashed and go to waste <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

why don't you sell it? make profit off of them! I have a huge box & I'm giving it away as I meet ff'ing people... but if I have left over I'll sell it! heck, they're the ones that send the crap to my house! I never asked for it...

I get that stuff all of the time, But I knowingly fill out those little draw cards at the walmart and then they send me formula, I give it to the food bank in my community, the companies give it away for free, and so do I. It comes in a nice box that I use for memory items.

It irks me as well.<br><br>
I lost 2 babies in the last year. Around the due date of the first baby I lost, I get in the mail, "congratulations on your new arrival."<br><br>
I guess the "new arrival" got lost in the mail? But I got a bunch of free formula.

I donate it all to a local women's shelter that also has a free daycare for moms who have to work but can't afford daycare. Since I'm gonna get the stuff in the mail anyway, I want it to go somewhere it will do some good.
