I wish I'd been paying more attention. Anyone else that will admit watching? :LOL

They were interviewing this Dr... Some things I remember:

Will the flu shot help prevent avian flu? 'Not necessarily.' !!!! He expounded- 'But get it anyway.' How about, 'not in the least', an honest answer?

He actually said, also, that for people worried about mercury causing autism, not to worry, as 'the flu shot contains no mercury.' Now, I am not a full-time activist on this, & get most of my info quick-browsing here, but didn't I read that YES, this flu shot does contain mercury, except those for under two?

Am I correct that in addition to the implied half-truths ('it's a different form of mercury' (implying 'don't worry, this one is ok!'), 'there are no preservatives' (so what, it's rotten?) they always throw at us, that he directly & bald-facedly LIED on camera?

because if he did, is he allowed to get away with this? are there any of the big autism lobbies (for example) that can find a copy of this interview, & make him (and fox news) recant publicly? either he is lying or stupid, and as frankly speaking on the circ boards routinely says, there is no excuse for the medical profession being this misinformed! (does a bridgebuilding engineer that kills hundreds when his work collapses get to say, as an excuse, 'ooh! math is hard!'? )

anyway, i didn't want the incident to completely slip away, if i am correct in my assumptions (i definately did hear him say this, in addition to a lot of other twaddle.)

thanks, susan

I saw it and shook my head. I also saw medical docs speaking on other channels like cnn and msnbc saying practically the same things. It's almost like some memo went out from their AMA headquarters :LOL to put a stop to people thinking for themselves and to "trust them".

I thought that I read here last week that the flu shots for 6 mo - 4 yo all contain mercury, and that the only low mercury (aka "mercury free") ones are for adults. Where'd that thread go, anyway? Someone oughta sticky that. :LOL

If the doctor said that the flu shot contains no mercury, he is either an absolute idiot for not even doing the most basic research before going on national television, or he is a liar.

Only a very small percentage of the flu shots contain no mercury. The FluMist nasal spray contains no mercury either. That is a lot different than "the flu shot contains no mercury."

yup saw the same attitude by the Drs on other cable news shows...

but get this.... on msnbc, they had on a Dr from Ohio talking about the avian flu.... this Dr has a smirk as to say...."really, the US is over-reacting a tad & if you take basic flu precautions as you should... you are in little danger of the avian flu " well the News guy was really irked that this guy was not really spreading the usual "scare tactics" & kept bringing up "possible cases" in Turkey & Greece. He was pushing the 1918 (?) flu & the Dr just kept to his stance of keep your hands, clean, sneeze into a kleenex of your sleeve if you must, avoid really crowded places, etc.. all this stuff we preach here, YK?
well the News guy was really peeved & cut the interview short & then the Dr looked peeved...
now what does that tell you about the media spreading this scare crap ?? :

Well, I am betting that if they are all, or most of them, lying about the flu shot, they are likely pretty confident that the Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005 will get passed. : Who cares if they lie if they have no liability anyways, right?
