I have freckles, they aren't visible in pictures when I was about 2, but pictures taken at age 4 definitely show them! So somewhere in those 2 years they showed up! DD and DS don't have them right now, maybe they'll get them too. BTW, I'm 32 now and they're still all over my face. I'm not even a redhead (more of a chestnut)!
I hate them some days but I like how it always gives color to my face and makes me look a bit younger.

ds has one freckle on his forehead that appeared before he was 1. I'm a bit worried about that, actually (paranoid perhaps), but the ped didn't think anything of it at his 12mo WBV. What do you think--is this unusually early enough that I should insist that it be looked at more closely?

My 5.5-year-old has just started getting them in the last year. He just has a very light sprinkling across his nose right now.

I started getting them when I was around 4.5 or 5, too, and had a face full by the time I was 8 or 9. I am still freckle-faced at age 24, although they are much lighter than they used to be.

Neither my DS nor I are redheads, either. I have very dark brown hair, and DS is blonde. Our freckles are small and light brown.

DD is a bit of a redhead (strawberry blonde really) and we have just started noticing some tiny freckles on her nose. She is only 16 mos. old, so quite young, it seems. And she hasn't even spent much time outside, since until this past week, it just rained and rained. And she wears a hat and sunscreen (well, sunscreen some of the time)!

My ds had one on his nose and two on one knee as of last summer, when he was about 22 mos. old. This summer he's gotten several more on nose, and they are soooo cute!! He is a red head, not bright red but clearly. I usually don't put sunscreen on him unless we're out in the middle of the day with direct sun exposure, but he always wears a sun hat (his choice, one I'm thankful for!).

I have freckles and I have noticed that ds #2 gets them but they fade away midsummer he will have light freckles across his nose they started that around the age of 2 1/2. he is 7 now and they still aren't noticable most of the time. I have a lot of noticible freckles which is funny because I am not light complected and have dark hair. My grandfather was cherokee indian and I have his skin tone with my grandmas irish freckles.

I think my daughter was around 6yrs when her freckles started to really show up across her nose. She now even has some on her forhead and the ones on her nose spread out a little more toward her cheeks. She's got a lot now and is trying to like them.lol

I was beginning to think mine was the only early freckler! DS started to get his, despite my liberal sunscreen applications, by 6 months. I was an early freckler too. As a child I had fire red hair that has turned an icky mousy brown.

Now at 3 1/2 he has tons and they are all over his face and arms and starting to show on his legs. Despite this he is still super pale skinned. So even though he isn't tan or burning or browning and his sunscreen is working he is continually freckling.

G had a few freckles her second summer, just about 15 months or so - 2 or 3 freckles total. By her third summer she began to show a faint smattering of freckles across her nose. They are absolutely adorable!

And as a grown up with a million freckles, I can tell you that sunscreen application has nothing to do with freckles. DD hasn't spent a day in her entire life since walking without sunscreen from head to toe, and neither have I as an adult. Still freckling! And, unfortunately sunscreen doesn't stop the existing freckles from darkening.

Interesting replies. I asked because I swear that my 19 month old is getting a few freckles, but it seems so early. Freckles are inevitable though since both DH and I have freckles as adults. When we were kids we were both had major freckles (DH looked like Alfred E. Neuman from Mad Magazine
) I looked some old pictures of us though, and it didn't look like we had noticeable freckles until 3-4. I can't wait to see how my little copper-top boy develops!

My dd is turning 7 in a couple weeks, and her freckles didn't really show up until this past
year. Before that I would look and think is that a freckle, and not know because there were
only a couple. Granted they are still very light and small. She's a brunette, and I wonder if
they will always stay small like that. I love them, their so cute, dd hates them. Oh well the
grass is always greener right?
