so the wic office here has a class that you can take about carseat safety and when you are done you get a voucher for each of your children and you go to the firestation and pick out a carseat. im not sure what kind of carseats. they don't have them til tomorrow. has anyone else gotten a carseat this way? i think its pretty cool. im just worried that its going to be a cheap car seat. i want a britax but its way out of our price range.
i live in south east ga. does anyone else have a program like this?

Our WIC does not have a program like that, but many of the carseat checks do.. Normally if you go to a car seat check and they find that your car seat is either old, broken, or your baby has outgrown it then they will give you a new one.

This is AWESOME to read. Rest assured that the seat you will receive will have passed the SAME crash criteria as a more expensive seat. More expensive does not necessarily equal more safe. Remember to have your new seats checked for proper installation and read your vehicle and car seat manuals to educate yourself on correct installation/use for your specific situation.

We are doing the same thing through wic here. It's just going to be until we get our tax refund and can get a better one.
Just make sure the seats are new in the boxes. I've heard of car seat "programs" that hand out old and used seats. I'm sure it's rare, but better safe than sorry.

well i just picked up my 2 car seats today (one for my 9 mo and one for my son on the way). i got 2 new evenflo tritan convertible seats. right out of the box. they showed me all the safety features and how to adjust everything and how the straps should fit and all that jazz. it looks real nice. it doesm't seem that much different from the britax. i guess they do give away britax also but it just depends on what they get in at the time. i dont think i will use it for my new born though, i like the infant seat i have. this one doesnt seem too snug an i like the fect that i can take the infant seat inand out when he is sleeping or going in the store.
