This is a lets share thread. What computer games have you stumbled accross that you feel helped your child with reading skills and kept their interest?

We barrow lots of stuff from the library but have you found some free stuff on the internet?

In another thread someone posted the link to Head Sprouts . My ds just loved it. Only the first three episodes were free. It still gave him a feel for words being made up of sounds.

Edited for typos

My kids like the shareware from Flix Productions http://www.flixprod.com/software.html

If you download the evaluation versions, it's free, and I guess those are what we've been using - I got them off of a freeware/shareware compilation CD.

It's not anything that I ever sit them down & have them do, but they enjoy doing the problems so they can see the reward animations, or do the puzzle, or draw on the drawing page, or watch munchy man chase someone across the screen. And Emily thinks the little mouse that zooms around the screen whenever you open a program is hysterical - she'll sometimes play a game just to see the mouse!
