I work at a place where we have lots of vounteers that bring stuff in to us from thier yards.
Well, I have about 10lbs of pears someone gave me. I really don't want to can them, I am running low on jars. AND because my DD loves pears I don't want to can them in the heavy syrup.

Anyway - I was wanting to freeze them raw for DD to take to daycare. They will never last all winter, so I need to do something with them now. She only eats about 1/4 of a pear at a meal now and if I could freeze them, it would be so easy to send with her.

Anyone done this? Do they get mushy?

Pears can't be frozen raw or the juice and fibers separate. They have to be simmered in a syrup (though juice might work) and treated with lemon juice or a Fruit-Fresh-type product to prevent darkening. I'm sure you can do a search for instructions.
