our cutie dd who is 9mos old wakes quite often still during the night
:
sometimes 6-7 times!! the only way i can get her to go back to sleep is to nurse her. we try rocking her and siging softly, we keep it really dark and quiet but she still needs the boob to get settles.i love nursing her and understand that it's normal for babes to wake during the night but getting up every hour with her is wearing me down bad

i'm not looking for an all night sleeper just a few hours of uninterupted sleep!!!
an ideas?? i've read the no cry sleep solution and like her tactics but they're not working. sometimes i wonder if us being in the same bed disturbs her. i guess some babes do better on their own. i just don't know!

could she possibly be hungry every hour or two?? i tank her up before bed and i'm always so shocked that she's up again just a couple (sometimes one!) hours later.
she's a bad napper too! but she's so happy and seems well rested. it's just the mama that's sooo tired!!
thanks all!

Why do you need to get up to nurse her? Can you nurse and sleep? I'd work on getting her to latch on on her own so you can both sleep.

yes, i do often lay down to nurse and i rarely get out of bed ever. but lately i've been trying to switch it up so i get up and try to rock her back to sleep instead of always nursing her, ya know?

i do, however, find it very hard to sleep and nurse at the same time!

?? Why would you do that?

There are so many things that cause babes to wake, in addition to hunger--teething, growth spurts, developmental leaps (learning to sit, cruise, stand, walk, talk, etc.), becoming more aware and realizing their alone in the dark, etc. I found teething to be our #1 culprit--have you tried Hyland's teething tablets?

I found that my best strategy was to get really good at nursing on my side in bed--after a while, she could latch on without me waking too much and I could sleep through most of the feedings. (I think perhaps that is what alegna is trying to get at, albeit in a roundabout way)
When my daughter was first starting to walk she seemed to have a really hard time lying down for any length of time - almost like some biological urge was at work. It did wear off after a couple of months... is your daughter either newly walking or starting to cruise the furniture?

Otherwise, I'd just suggest making it as easy as possible for you to nurse her in bed. I slept topless and kept a pillow just to kind of prop her up to me (I have small boobs and she basically had to have her head in my armpit to latch on) and nursed on my side and tried to sleep through it... and I got to the point where I might sort of half-wake up but nothing more than that, most times.

hey thanks ! i will try again with the side position. and yes, she is just about to crawl and is scooting backwards all the time. she has a lot of new movements going on! the pillow is a good idea too.
I wasn't able to nurse and sleep well and my back started to kill me from side nursing. I started a NCSS thread if you want to pop in and see what others are doing. Good luck!
