Will this work? I have a M-L, closer to large, crocheted soaker. I'd like to use that yarn to knit a S-Mish soaker. Do you think I'll have enough yarn? The cuffs and waistband of the crochet soaker are a different color that I'd rather not include, so it seems like it might be close? Does knit or crochet use more yarn per inch??

great!

one more thing - I've never done this before - after I've unraveled, should I wash or somehow try to straighten the yarn a little? After spinning yarn, I sometimes hang it with a slight weight to take out the extra twist - something similar to this might work on the kinky yarn??

You can frog it and make a hank. Tie it in a couple places to avoid tangles. Put a bowl of water in the microwave for a couple minutes to get it steamy, place the yarn next to the bowl (not in!) and let it sit in the microwave for a few minutes. Then pull it out and hang it up with a weight. It should relax the waves.

I would be hesitant to weight the yarn, especially if it is merino. I pull stuff out from time to time and just wind it into a center pull ball. I let it sit for a few days and most of the waviness is gone.
