Hey ladies, remember back in late summer when we did a poll to find out what we wanted to do after our due date, since eventually this will close and either be archived or we will have to start a group to keep it going? Well, it's the end of March and I seem to remember someone saying that our DDC would close pretty soon after our babes were born. What do you all think? Is it time to move to a group or do we want to wait until this DDC officially closes?

I agree, sounds like a good idea to start the transition now.

I was just thinking about this... I think it's time to move. Anyone recall what we need to do to make that happen?

I would be happy to move too, although I cannot for the life of me remember what that entails...

We have to have two group leaders, and then we have to pm Cynthia (she did start alll the DDCs atomicrocket, she is also the website administrator). I think one thing that you have to do as a group leader is decide if we want the group to be open or closed to the public (just to them commenting, remember everyone can see anything we write). Also, if we do decide that we want it to be closed, then the group leaders are the ones who approve anyone joining, which means they have to get online enough to approve those requests.

So,

Do we want to leave our DDC Club open to the public?
Who wants to be group leaders?

I was looking for something else and came accross this thread about social groups: http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1327212/social-groups-are-here

It says:

Going forward, all Due Date Clubs (DDCs) will be created as Social Groups and they will remain active rather than archived. DDCs that are now closed and archived may apply to create a Group.

So, do we have to do anything at all?

Well, what "all DDC's will be created as Social Groups" means is that all DDC's that were formed after social groups were created would automatically be created as a social group. It started with the April DDC. April's DDC was never a due date club like ours, it was always a social group. We have to apply to be a social group, but the way this reads is that we need to wait until this one closes and is archived. I think that is a bad idea because if we wait for it to close, how will people who arent online right now know that we have moved to a social group? Ill flag this post and see if I can get a mod to chime in.

What about currently active DDCs that haven't closed yet?

It would stink if we couldn't direct people to it.

I'm willing to be a group leader. I think we need at least two but can have more.

As for the open v. closed group. My inclination is that we should make it a closed group. Everyone in Feb already had there babies and I'd prefer a group that was for comments by members only, especially as it won't be hard to join. I feel like we can better maintain our sense of community that way.
