I don't really measure it, but probably 1/3 to 1/2 cup. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I use about 1/4 cup of Arm & Hammer - my washer does a cold pre-wash on just about every cycle which is where it's used. The prewash also has it's own slot for detergent where the manufacturer asks you to put 1/4 of the the amount of dtergent you'd normally put in the main wash - in my case I put in about a tsp.
