This is my 2nd cycle and 2nd day with the diva cup. I am completely frustrated with being unable to get it to work properly. I get leakage and nothing else. The cup doesn't hold a thing. The first time I had it in high so I thought maybe that was the reason. But I have tried so many times after that and have only gotten it to work once during my previous cycle. So I know I did something right now but not sure what.

I have read the directions over and over again and don't understand what I am doing wrong. I really want it to work so much. What are some tips and tricks to getting it to work properly?

I don't have anything helpful, I'm going through much of the same thing with my mooncup and I've had it almost 6 months! I did completely snip the tail off of mine and that seemed to help a lot. I read somewhere that the trick was to 'aim' it toward your lower back when inserting, but I just can't seem to get the hang of that. :LOL

The first two days of my period are *so* heavy and I just *can't* get a good seal. I've taken to wearing a washcloth with my cup just so I won't have to use pads.
:

Maybe *once* out of the six days of my period I will get it in *just right*. It's just a luck thing, I don't know what I'm doing wrong with it. Often I'll put it in, stand up and feel it trying to fall out, so I've been doing what you are with just putting it in as far as it will go.

I'll be sticking around to see if anyone has anything helpful to add!

hi. you know, it took me a few cycles to get the hang of mine. i found that the "turning it" thing worked, but i have to turn it a couple of full turns to get all the kinks out and create a seal that holds. otherwise, i feel like it's just moving all over the place and it leaks.

fwiw - i found that the company's customer service folks were VERY helpful. they can also help you make sure you're using the right size.

hth. good luck. once it starts working for you, you'll be totally psyched! it's just a pain to get there sometimes, i think.

I am giving it a turn or two but I don't think I am getting a good seal. I noticed that I wasn't leaking for a while but then started leaking. So maybe its shifting and that's causing the leaks. I wish it was easier to do!

I found that I needed to slip a finger up beside it and actually *release* some of the suction in order to get a snug fit. Then I didn't get leaks any more.

How often are you taking it out to empty it? I usually have a couple of really heavy days when I need to empty it every 2 hours or so. After that I can go much longer.

Normally I don't really have to empty it since it doesn't hold anything. Everything just leaks out from the time I put it in. If you have a good suction, its hard to move it right? I think my problem is not getting that suction effect.

Are you sure it's opening fully after you insert it? I pinch the base to get mine to pop.

For me to get a good seal, I turn it a few times then do this thing where I bear down as though I'm trying to push it out, then I push back in with my finger.

Once you figure out what works for you, you'll love it.

Good luck!

I use my diva cup.

I insert it and sort of turn it while inserting it.. I can FEEL when it's right.. If it sin't I will pull it out while turning it.. And then turn it while pushing it in again.. You ABSOLUTELY have to make sure there aren't any kinks in it..

Good luck.

well I'm a newbie in this are to, my first experience with diva cup has been quite good.

Make sure the diva opens up properly when you have inserted it other wise it will leak, I often run a finger along the cup just to check so it has opened up properly all the way. If it hasn't I pinch the diva down at the bottom (not the stem) and try to rotate it .
The diva should not be inserted to high up to your cervix opening that might cause leakage. Its the v walls that holds the cup up. you might try to do some keegals as that often is recommended ,it will tighten you v walls and muscles.

If that's not the problem maybe you should try a keeper, its a tad bigger (not much ) and recommended if you've had vaginal births , scaring after vaginal births or has problems with getting your diva to fit.

Good luck !

I hope you get it to work !
