Some of the kefir in my fridge smells normal, and some of it smells a bit funky. I usually make smoothies with my kefir so the taste could be a bit off without my noticing. The milk is also a bit sour--10 days old or so. Does that make the kefir funkier? It seems I heard that. I usually wait a while for kefir, sometimes forgetting it until the day after I notice it is done . I like it thicker. Is that bad? I am using raw milk, and I usually don't worry about it being sour. I don't particularly like the taste of sour milk (sometimes its gag worthy), but I'l cook with it, use it in baking, or give it to my toddler if he doesn't mind the taste.

Anyway, if anyone made sense of my ramblings and can comment on potential causes and/or problems with drinking funky smelling kefir, lmk!
