Hi! I'm planning to be there with my newborn. I'm not at all familiar with the Chicago area and pretty intimidated by being there, but I didn't want to miss out. If anyone that is going, and don't mind taking us under your wing, can you please private mail me? Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!

My DH and I went last year, and it was FAB. Crowded, but awesome stuff. I'm hoping that there will be more room now that they've changed venues. And the food situation last year was a bit of a mess...... at least at Navy Pier there will be a lot of nearby food options in case the Green Fest food vendors get crowded again.

One hint- bring a tote bag for all of the stuff you'll pick up.

Sorry, but I can't commit to taking anyone under my wing. I'm having a pretty miserable pregnancy, so we probably won't make the decision to attend until the very last minute. Fingers crossed that I'm feeling OK by then! :

It was elbow to elbow last year and uncomfortable; I was preggo, guh. Hot! No resting place. Pack plenty of water and snacks just in case and, yes, get a tote. Some booth was giving them out but I never found it LOL so we wound up stuffing my backpack with stuff.

I'm probably not going this year, DS is too small and doesn't handle crowds that well. I'll update if we go so we can hook up.

Post your concerns, perhaps I or someone else can answer your questions or find someone that has them for you, mymaybaby05

I really want to go but its just to expensive
Does anyone know how to get a discount (aside from volunteering?)

I read that if you ride your bike there you will get a $5 discount per rider! We ride every where anyway so this should be doable. The DC are free. Im still a little wierded out about paying $20 for our family to walk around looking at a bunch of advertising booths. Is there other things there aside from companies trying to promote their stuff?

Yes, you get a discount for riding your bike, and kids under 12 are free. I am really gonna try to go, but I hate big cities and there's no way I'm driving. I am going to try to figure something out. MyMayBaby05, LMK where you're at (PM) and I'll see maybe we can meet at a train station or something and ride in together? I don't wanna go alone.

This is what I found on the Greenfestival.org website:

"Better World Books and Green Festival are partnering to offer $5 off Green Festival admission to attendees who bring in 3 or more books. Your donated books will be sold on BetterWorld.com to help fund girls’ scholarships in developing countries in Asia through Room to Read. www.roomtoread.org"

By the way, I almost forgot. Last year we paid full price, but we also got a free membership to Co-op America. I believe you have to be a first time member to get the free subscription. We got great newsletters and a huge Green Business Directory.

I went last year. Kinda fun, but not really worth it. It was too crowded and impossible to get food, like other have said.

Bring a tote bag? I left with three tote bags, full of samples and literature.

Last year, it only cost $5 to get in if you rode your bike, but it was really hard to find the valets.

I was on the website a few weeks ago, and I seem to remember that union members get in half price as well. I'm a teacher, so . Last year anyone who showed a public transportation ticket also got in with a big discount, but I don't remember seeing that on the website this year.

Maybe for people who LIVE the green movement the info they had would be old news, but for crispy (not crunchy) folks like me I learned a lot. Plus the coupons I got (for Seventh Generation and Method, especially) made the price worthwhile.

I'm really looking forward to going this year now that I have a baby on board... I really didn't pay much attention to the baby stuff last year because a pg wasn't on the horizon (I didn't think).

I'm looking forward to seeing if the new venue makes a difference in the crowd, food, and space situation.
