I would go to the diapering forum here at MDC and ask. I believe they were just talking about them and when I read the thread, NO one was happy with them. They plug the toilet, are much more confusing, etc..

Don't take my word for it though (I've been reading SO much) go ask just in case! I think you'll find cloth MUCH easier than you believe it is.

We use them with DS on and off. I've never had a single problem with them. They're adorable
We normally will use microfiber inserts instead of the disposable ones you can buy. But when we used the disposbale ones, we had no toilet issues, no leaking, and everyone though they were cute.

i used them for awhile on dd and i liked them but hated flushing the liners, so i ended up throwing them away instead
(the flushable liners that is) also, when left on overnight the snap in liner got smelly but it can be easily washed out
i say go for it!!

IMO, they're stupid. You have to wash the covers, so you've got the washing involved with cloth, but you have to buy the inserts so you have the cost and nasty absorbent gels associated with disposables...and the extra ick of ripping the insert/swishing it in the toilet. I would pick cloth or disposable, or a mix of both and do that instead of the gdiapers.

Mmmm... I think they an be a good idea for people who can't/won't go cloth all the way, but still think that sposies are not good.

I have loved cloth for years now and never thought I would go back to sposies. However, since we moved housework has become very difficult because we started homeschooling, the house is twice as big and the washing machine is TINY! It takes me at least twice as long to do laundry and I can barely manage the regular loads - so I just could not handle CD laundry on top

I can see how only having to wash covers would be much less overwhelming for people. IMO, I'd rather see people using G diapers than throwing Pampers on the landfills...

I plan on using cloth the majority of the time but I was thinking of these for vacations when laundry might not be accessible and I wouldn't have to worry about clogging my own toilet.

ITA with Friday13th.....I could see using them for travel (we do a lot of car travel and staying overnight with people where it wouldn't be convenient to wash diapers, or desirable to pack the dirty ones with us). Generally, we end up using disposable on the road. I could see giving these a try in those situations. Also when visiting my ILs, since my MIL is a bit weird about us washing diapers in her machine. I'd want to do more research on them though...do they really use the absorbent gels? That seems like it would be a no-brainer for a ecologically concerned company to stay away from...

As far as disposal....Obviously if I were to use them for traveling, I would either toss or flush. But I would be totally cool with the composting option if I used them at home. I just can't see them as an every-day all the time option--too much waste, too much work, not nearly as comfortable as cloth, and quite expensive. I like the idea for travel though. Seems a much better option than typical disposables.

Of course, all that would be dependant on functionality, though--the last thing I want to deal with while traveling is leaks or blow-outs! I think the starter kit would be a neat thing to put on a baby registry--or a neat gift for someone who's pregnant but not considering cloth. Sort of a soft introduction to a cloth diapering lifestyle, KWIM?

To flush them on the road, you will need to carry the swizzle stick with you everywhere - you can't just rip 'em and dump 'em. There's a Linens-n-Things toilet in Texas Hill Country that can attest to that

The outer shells will need to be washed from time to time, and I cannot imagine that a poopy gDiaper is a fun experience. There's also plastic in contact with skin, and that leaves sweaty, red marks.

I prefer to use 'em with a prefold trifodled inside, but that doesn't eliminate the plastic touching the skin.

Personally, I use 7th Gen sposies for most of our activities outside the house, and cloth inside the house. It's a good compromise for us, and I love putting her back in cloth when we get home.

You could always get a couple to try them out - if they work, great, if not you can probably use the covers with cloth or sell them on ebay or something.

I've heard both good and bad reviews - I have lots of cloth though so I will just stick with that and buy a pack of sposies for thiose times when I am behind in laundry or whatever.
