So I have been working to loose weight for health reasons but recently I have run into a problem. According to the place I use to keep up with my calorie intake I should eat 1,552 calories per day to loose 1 pd a week. I usually ingest anywhere from 900-1,200 calories a day and have up till now managed to loose about a pd a week. But in the last 2 weeks without changing how I eat I have gained 3 pds back I ride my bike every day for 30-80 minutes at a time (I do miss the occasional day) I cannot figure out why I am gaining unless it is because I am not getting enough to eat, is that even possible?

I am or was down by 21pds so I was making amazing progress but now I am getting discouraged. I dont get to eat what I want and I am nearly constantly hunger. I have tried eating 3 meals with snacks but that made me eat to much so I went to eating a little bit every few hours but that also lead to me eating to much. I am at a loss.

I started out at 197 back in July. I am now at 179 according to the scale this morning Was 176 last week.

What are you eating? I believe weight loss is about the foods you eat as well as calories. Also, 900-1200 calories a day does not sound like enough.

It's possible...if you don't eat the recommended amount of calories, your body can start to think it's starving, so it will hold onto the fat and slow down your metabolism. I would really try to stick to the range that your program requires of you...

Good luck!

There for awhile I was sticking very close to it and that was when the weight loss was happening but then we ran into $ trouble and having good things to eat wasnt possible and I know better than to eat junk it wont work so I stopped eating as much and then what I was having to eat things like apple butter sandwiches and popcorn.

Breakfast: Bowl of oatmeal or a fiber bar, 2 pieces of cinnamon toast
Dinner: 4oz. grilled turkey breast or deer meat usually ground, steamed carrots, broccoli & cauliflower sprinkled with 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese and 4-8oz of milk. Sometimes home made fries (bad I know but only a few of them)
Snack: bowl of popcorn, 1/4 cup mixed nuts, Roman noodles usually dry, a raw carrot
Drink: tea, hot chocolate (once a day if at all), cup of coffee, as much water as I can manage which usually = 16-32 oz (I hate water)

I do not have much variety at all which makes it even worse to see weight gain when I want so badly to eat. I can understand not loosing weight at all not eating enough but to actually gain weight dosnt make sense to me.

I see you don't have anything written down for lunch, so I guess you're not eating lunch? It also seems to me like you're not getting very much protein (and I may be wrong, this is just based on the example you gave). If it were me, I'd drop the ramen noodle snack, and add some yogurt or cheese stick, apple or other fruit you like. I would also add in a lunch.

Btw, you may not have actually gained back weight, as weight fluctuations are normal.

Yeah I usually skip lunch and do a snack instead.

I have read that weight fluctuations can happen it just sucks to see it happen

According to the place I keep up with my food intake, Everydayhealth.com I should be eating 77grams of protein a day and 4 oz of meat give me about half that. So yeah I am coming up short on my protein most days.

Having never worried about what I eat till the last few months I am still struggling with what is good and what is not so I fear eating most anything because I worry it is bad for me.

I had been adding fruit like apples and oranges but then we ran low on $ so I dont have anything like that in the house though I am going shopping after while and will pick up some stuff and then I can drop the noodles again.

Thank you for the help in figuring this out. I just got so frustrated to see those 3pds back knowing that I didnt over eat.
