I am refusing my GBS (group b strep) test, but instead have decided to watch for the risk factors and consider treatment if any of those factors occur. I'd rather not do iv antibiotics during labor. I'm not sure about doing the Hibiclens wash during labor. I would probably go with that over the antibiotics. However, if garlic, echinacea, goldenseal, and other herbal treatments are often effective for taking away a once positive GBS test and turning it to negative, why wouldn't a cleanse similar to the Hibiclens protocol but instead using the herbs mentioned above work? Do any herbal cleanses exist?

I think it would. I had a water birth and was Strep B positive. I added goldenseal to the birth tub. (I am lucky enough to have goldenseal growing on my land and a sister who is a clinical herbalist) In addition to the helping with the Strep B, goldenseal is great for eyewash and since we skipped the eye goop we got the added benefit of that.

I considered the hiboclense rinse, but since I had decided on a waterbirth and had the goldenseal available, that was a better option for us. I did have the hiboclense on hand just in case I changed my mind about the water
