just curios if anyone here has spoofed their GBS test and was your midwife ok with the idea? I was told by my midwife that we can do the test and get real results (so we have a status in case of transfer)or not do the test or do the test and spoof it, she doesnt feel as thought gbs are accurate because you can have it one day and not the next so what has been your experience with this? you can pm if you rather not post on thread.<br>

spoof the test? Do you mean cheat on it, like test your armpit or mouth or something? Why would you do that? Are you having a hospital birth?<br><br>
I wouldn't take the test unless I was planning on doing something about the result(ie. abx for a positive reading). If you aren't planning on taking antibiotics, you just don't take the test. What if you are positive and cheat on the test, then come to find out that you were colonized and have an infected baby? Cheating wouldn't have helped you then.<br><br>
FWIW, I will not be taking the test. I did not with my last birth and just watched out for risk factors. My baby and I were perfectly fine. I will not be testing this time either, and will take in lots of probiotics and garlic to encourage intestinal flora. If I end up in the hospital, I will not consent to abx unless I feel it would benefit me or my baby, and they will NOT force me to against my wishes.

AugustLia23 ofcourse I am planning a hbac that is why this is posted here but<br>
the reason I asked is that I was told that if you need to have a hospital transfer and dont have a GBS status that the hospital can force tests on your newborn against your wishes and it was just easier to say that you had the test done (even if you hadnt actually taken a true sample)that you have a negative status.<br><br>
If you spoof the test or not test at all it is the same results you never really knew if you have gbs, correct so what would be the difference in your eyes?<br><br>

Yes it would have the same result as you not knowing your "true" gbs status for that moment in time. But I would be saving myself the time that I would otherwise be wasting by cheating the test.<br><br>
I considered taking a test before 36 weeks to see if it was positive to try to change it to negative, but I know that getting a positive result at any time in pregnancy does not mean that I would be positive on the day I give birth.

I guess the point i was trying to make was that my midwife wanted to have a gbs status on me incase of transfer so no unnecessary test be done on baby and the only way to have gbs status to have proof a test was taken, and to make sure that the test was negative she would spoof it for me,<br><br>
so it's not to waste time it is just to have a gbs satus on myself for the hospital if needed, kwim?<br><br>
