ok, i've taken the test..........i got it. i've had it. i have 3 kids under 5 and i'm pretty sure i've had it the whole time.

i can't think straight. so who do you go to for.......... excellence? compassion? i/m not looking for someone who will not have to be handed a "test" and then dispense me drugs. unless it's really that easy. i do trust this community. i have been on lexepro and others (maybe 2 more, but i can't remember right now), but none have done anything,..........maybe something, but not enough to remember.

i know what i'm going through is a part of my decision to have 3 kids under 5, but my goodness. i would rather hire a nanny than let them spend another minute in my presence.

so my question is.......who do i go to?

Start with your ob or gp. They should know a psychiatrist and/or therapist who can help you, and maybe even get you started on meds that might work.

It can take a while to get the right meds and sometimes it even takes a combo to feel yourself again. Be patient and don't settle for adequate care; the right dr+client fit makes all the difference.

You can go to www.postpartum.net. and find a therapist near you, or a support group that you can call and get directed to a good therapist. You NEED to find one that has special interest in PPD. THat is crucial.

The therapist will be able to direct you to someone who can help with meds. You need to go to a psychiatrist for this because they know the meds best and will be able to help you with right med, dosage, etc.

So glad you are taking the first step. Your OB might also know of a therapist who can counsel you with PPD. But you really want a GOOD one who knows the ins and outs of PPD. And that is not all of them.
