Why are the Hezballah rockets hitting my city and others in Israel packed with ball bearings and other things, if not to cause maximum civilian casualties?

I might not be online much, to read the replies, being a refugee and all, but I am curious how this make sense to those that make the claim. Because it just doesn't to me.

Thanks. May we see peace soon.

All of this just has me so heartbroken. It's good to see you posting though, please check in when you can. You've got a lot of people hoping and praying for your safety and for all of this to end.

BB, its obvious that Hezballahs bombs are INTENDED to kill and maim as many civilians as possible. Incredible that its not condemned more.

Keep safe please.

I'm waiting for this ceasefire to happen. Please let it be soon.

All attacks on civilian targets are to be condemned. Regardless of the country they originate from. The next thing to condemn is attacks on military targets. Then, we condemn war itself. Then we condemn all those supporting war. This we all should demand of those who purport to be our leaders. Or else. Then, maybe, just maybe, there may be fewer wars. Peace.

to everybody in a war zone.

It does get frustrating when it appears that there's so much in the news criticizing Israel's actions, and so little criticizing Hezballa's actions.

Wow, did anyone here actually say that Hezbollah is not targeting civilians or trying to cause maximum civilian damage? Seems to me that it is obvious they are.

Or maybe people misunderstand and think that criticism of Israel's actions means approval of Hebollah's actions? Or that those who criticize Israel think Hezbollah is better?

For me, anyway, neither of those is true. I can criticize Israel's methods which have disproprotionately killed civilians while at the same time recognize that Hezbollah is actively targeting civilians. I guess I don't really see a moral distinction between the two.

BB, I hope the truce holds! And I hope somehow this is the beginning of the disarmament of Hezbollah...

i hope so too, but it seems that nasrallah has already backed out of the cease fire, while Israeli troops have been ordered to cease firing, Hezbollah have not received any such order as of an hour and 17 minutes after the cease fire was supposed to take effect.

It does seem like a lot of people have been criicizing Israel without feeling the need to vocalize criticism about Hezbollah which does give the impression that their actions are condoned. Just my opinion.

I think it's got more to do with the way that Hezbollah is already considered this heinous outlaw terrorist organization in mainstream American media, while Israel's Defense Force is viewed as having a certain unquestioned legitimacy as a "real army."

If you called the IDF a "terrorist organization," most people would suck in their breaths in shock at your disrespect and hatefulness-- but call Hezbollah the same, and it goes unremarked. We're sort of conditioned to view "Arab militants" as being dangerous and irrational in ways that we're not conditioned to view Israeli militants.

So I think there's a certain desire to restack the deck of general perception, at least at MDC, so to speak.

But that's JMO.

BelovedBird, I'm glad to see that you are safe! I hope you can go home soon.

I don't have an answer to your question. The argument I've heard (please don't read this as a defense of it) is that Israeli has targeted bombs so they are more "culpable" because they can control who they are bombing (hence, they should be able to avoid civilian casualties) while Hezbollah's rockets are not targeted.

I haven't been reading the news--I'm praying the ceasefire is holding.

I hope I don't get everyone mad at me, but I was looking at Belovedbird's town and the observent Jewish moms and the Jewish people and Arab people aren't that different from one another.

Both are modest and family centered, cover and are living simply and sustainably.

I really wish us moms had the power, we wouldn't be destroying one another's people or stuff.
