Gerber Birdseye Prefolds??

498 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  roseselene
As part of my Postpartum Doula work, I would like to include some cloth diaper "samples" in my basket of goodies for new mamas.
Does anyone have experience with the Gerber Birdseye Prefolds (sold at Walmart etc)? Are they any good, or would they only frustrate a mother new to cd'ing?
Any other suggestions on what might be a suitable choice to include instead?
Thanks!

The birdseye prefolds are not worth it but the diaper service quality are usable. Chines and Indian prefolds are far better examples to show, as well as a fuzzi bunz or swaddlebees pocket diaper.
Please don't include the Gerber prefolds - they'll surely convince anyone that cloth diapering is a bad idea.

ITA with the above poster, you need some Indian or Chinese prefolds, some fitteds (Kissaluvs size 0 are cute and might work for convincing mamas to CD), swaddlebees, verybaby aios (there are a bunch instock at www.bluelakediapers.com), etc.
For covers you might try Bummis, Aristocrats wool, etc...
Unfortunately, your idea might cost a bit to get a good sampling together.

Actually, if you check out www.greenmountaindiapers.com you'll find a lot of great information and photos of all the diapers they offer.

Ugh! Awful!! Paper thin and huge to fold but still thin when all folded. Don't absorb well at all. Very terrible! I bought 3 dozen. Fortunately they are cheap and they make good spit up rags or wipes. They are see thru thin tho!!
i always recommend www.babyworks.com for cloth diapers because they are so nice, have a good selection, and most importantly will take returns on washed/worn/stained stuff within 30 days - or sometimes even longer. They donate it to an orphanage if it's not in new condition. I have been able to try tons of different covers with the prefolds to find what works best for us. Sometimes I would buy several styles and return all but one. Never had a problem with them. They are wonderful.

LMAO, that's why I asked FIRST, they just didn't look very good to me at all.

I know, but I can't help myself, LOL!

I think I like the idea of prefolds better as they can be reused for something else if the mama decides not to cd (although everything else is SOOOO much cuter, lol). Thanks for the tips ladies!

I used the gerber prefolds as burp cloths. i actually also used two together to stuff fuzzi bunz, but i would never recommend them for actual prefolds.
