I thought I remember seeing a thread here with a title like that, but I can't find it. At the time I had just started work again and I was too exhausted to cope with adding one more thing. Now I am starting to face the reality that I need to exercise. My immediate motivation is my glucose test on May 17. ( I am totally scared of being risked out of my birthing center, which mandates this test.) So, today I got off a subway stop earlier than normal and walked half a mile. Right now I am going to get off my duff (oh, how I love my couch these days!) and try a prenatal DVD. It is a little scary since I haven't worked out since before I came down with severe morning sickness in December -- I dread seeing proof of how out of shape I've become.

What are you all doing fitness-wise for the babe in your bellyl??

Getting off at an earlier subway stop is a great way to get a little exercise! I've also started parking in the back of the parking lot and walking into stores. LOL Every little bit counts!

My PLAN is to take a 30 minute walk every weekday evening. Tonight will be the first in a couple weeks, since we just moved (I'd been doing good before the move; taking a walk 3-5 times a week).

UPDATE: I did take a walk this evening! I actually followed through on something--what a concept!

Nice job, mamas! Yeah, I think every extra step really does help, and gardening is wonderful exercise!
I have a friend who is pregnant, too, and she and I have been great inspiration and motivation for one another. We walk together a few times a week, for a couple hours each time. I also have three big energetic dogs that require lots of exercise, so they're another motivation to walk for at least a half hour to an hour everyday (although I have to admit, I don't do it everyday!). I also am working outside a LOT....it's that time of year...putting in new gardens, building new chicken coop, pruning trees, building stone walls, chasing chickens, etc. I take yoga classes three times a week, and sometimes do some on my own as well (prenatal yoga videos). I am quite active and feel generally pretty healthy and in good shape, but I used to run about 40 miles/week, and no matter how active I am right now, I still feel out of shape, compared to what my activity level used to be.

i hear you wild nettle!!! i miss running, and no amount of walking makes you feel like it!

i walk the dog everyday, somewhere between 30-60 minutes depending on the wind. i say the wind, because if there is no wind, we play frisbee instead. my dog actually starts agility training next week, so that will also be some excercise for me.

i do my pre-natal yoga video about 2 times a week, although it sorta bores me. i much rather be at a class!

gardening is also part of my daily routine. i have my own flower garden and an allotment that i share with my in-laws.

pie-pie: i LOVE new york city... i lived there when i was in my formative years (lower east side) and hearing about getting off the subway makes me homesick!

Yes, good reminders! I have been struggling with keeping active, too. But last night I made myself go on a 30 min walk and this morning I did a prenatal yoga DVD. I know this is SO important, so I'm just going to try to keep making myself do something every day.

Good luck, all!

i keep telling myself i need to exercise, but find it so much harder with a toddler around than i did when preg with ds. unless carrying him around counts? and of course with my rapidly growing belly, i'm doing a lot less of that. i do garden, but right now all that consists of is deadheading my roses and pulling a few weeds. dh is building me some veg beds though, so once those are done there'll be alot more to do.

about a month ago i decided i really needed to get moving, but what with picking up a temporary job, then getting a cold that wouldn't leave for 2 weeks, then this past week getting the stomach flu... well, it hasn't happened much. though the past few days i've been going for quick 20 min walks just because i was going house crazy because of that stomach flu.
