Hi--I've been on antibiotics for almost 2 weeks for Lyme disease. (They caught it early, thank goodness.) I've been taking them every 12 hours, and in between eating lots of yogurt and taking acidophilus to try to keep the helpful bacteria in my body going. (I haven't taken antibiotics in almost 10 years so this feels like wiping out a decade's work <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">).<br><br>
I'm wondering if anyone knows other ways to get those good bugs back. I am fairly bloaty now and I think it's probably because my intestines are working as well. (I typically *never* have problems in that regard...) Suggestions? I will be taking the doxycyline for another 3 days. I'm actually considering drinking a bit of compost tea or something...wheee! (or, bleck! depending on how you look at it)<br><br>
I know I could just go to the health food store and buy various capsules, but does anyone have any more 'homemade' suggestions?
