Just wanted to share how stoked I am.<br><br>
I realized we have a ton of old full-sized flannel sheets (but no full-sized beds in the house anymore) and they could potentially be sewn into fitted or contoured dipes. But I didn't have any elastic in the house, so went to JoAnns to get some.<br><br>
... and came back not only with those two things, but enough PUL and fabric to make ~4 newborn and ~4 small-medium covers in addition to probably about a dozen or so fitteds/contours! I'm so excited to give it a try! All for $30, which is pretty damn good considering the cost of covers.<br><br>
I'm wondering if I should try my hand at a couple all-in-ones, or if I should just stick to covers and fitteds/contours as a beginner.<br><br>
EEEEEeeeee! I'll post pics if I get to work on these this weekend!<br><br>
Anyone else making their own dipes to add to their stash?

I wish I was coordinated enough to sew my own dipes! Sadly I have no idea how to sew and I don't own a machine <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> Definitely share pics as you go!!

Oh my gosh, that's exciting!!! I made TONS of dipes for DS. I used my own stash of old flannel sheets to make prefolds and I've experimented with every material imaginable to make inserts for gdiapers and pockets. I'm a pretty experienced sewer but something about working with elastic scares me so I've never tackled AIOs or fitteds. I can't wait to see how yours turn out.<br><br>

I love talking about cds and especially homemade ones so I'll be following your progress for sure. You're going to inspire me to start sewing again too, I just know it!

AI2's are super easy to make just add a hiden layer of PUL in there. I wish my JoAnns had PUL I have to order it off line.

I'm sewing fitted NB diapers (I prefer fitted w/ covers to AIOs or pocket dipes). I've completed 4 so far and have fabric cut out for several more, just haven't actually sewn them. Many of DS's diapers are ones I've sewn as well. If you want to start with something extremely simple, look up Rita's pattern. It's free. You can also join the <a href="http://diaperdivas.proboards.com/" target="_blank">Diaper Sewing Divas</a> forum. Many of the ladies there are worlds beyond my sewing skills but I've picked up a lot of tricks and tips to make diaper sewing easier.
